roadbikeRob saidYou think the democrats will do any better, you are living in a fantasyland. Come to my hometown of Buffalo and see how the democrats fucked this city up since gaining monopoly control of city hall in 1964. While you are at it, you might as well check out Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Toledo, and Detroit and see how the corrupt, incompetant democrats have killed these once prosperous cities. They are now all urban basketcases struggling to survive and revitalize themselves.
For starters, you can easily name ten cities that have prospered under Democratic leadership over the last thirty years. Since Cleveland has had Republican mayors, it seems as though your definition of "monopoly" is at least somewhat compromised. I'd also argue that your definition of "killed" is suspect. Pittsburgh, despite it's failure to reemerge as a manufacturing city (which is hardly a bad failure to stage), has anunemployment rate lower than the national average, because of its success in attracting the retail, medical research, engineering, and finance industries.
Second off, you throw around the party that's controlled a city as if that's a cause of the decline those cities has suffered. Everyone of those cities you've mentioned is in the Rust Belt, and because of this, have strong pro-labor sentiments. The Democratic control of this region is more of a result of the problem rather than its underlying cause.
