I got mine done eleven years ago on a multi-month business trip to Germany.
Got back to the States, and bought current small/discrete gold hoop at JCPenney. icon_lol.gif
Now the only question is... left or right? icon_question.gif

You could always do it yourself. Just keep it clean. I've done my ears, nose and eyebrow piercing. My Labret and tongue I had done professionally because you don't want to get those infected. Now, I'm stretching my ears to 0 gauges. Yeah, it gets addicting after a while.

Piercing guns are awful. Get your ears pierced via needle. It's quicker to heal and you have the added bonus of picking your earring instead of sticking with the crappy piercing gun ones for weeks.

I have an industrial bar piercing, but, man, that thing took forever to heal.. It bled for weeks and took almost a year to finally heal. I think it's because I sleep on my right side a lot where the piercing is located. Other than that, it looks great.

On some guys it looks great and some it is not so hot.

Have you tried stick ons for a day or to to see if you like the look?

I would ask around to see where people I knew got theirs done and ask how it went.

Which ear? Does it matter any more?

Cartilage is also a lot less vascular than the lobe, so it will naturally take longer to heal ( also of course sleeping on it would irritate the wound and make the healing time even longer).

Another poster said to go to a piercing parlor. I would like to add my support to that.
Piercing guns use a blunt force to puncture the hole (a needle on the other hand is just like a hypodermic and would go right through with ease to create the hole). Guns are typically not sterile either. They have plastic parts and therefore can't be put in an autoclave (machine used to sterilize medical instruments and should be in every reputable piercing parlor).

OP: Think of it this way, would you entrust the sales girl working at the mall to pierce you with a plastic gun that only gets wiped down (if at all) or a professional body piercing who does piercing all day for a living and knows about (avoiding) cross-contamination, proper piercing procedures, and proper aftercare?

I second the tattoo place. I pierced my own ears but for other locations on my body I chose the tattoo/piercers over the mall chain stores because of experience, expertise and cleanliness.

First, you'll need a time machine. Set the dial to 1992. Find the nearest mall and go to J.C. Pennys. icon_rolleyes.gif

Yeah. Great way to make sure you lose at least half the guys that were willing to suck your dick before you mutilated it. icon_rolleyes.gif

Are you going to uncircumcise yourself, too?

Ummm, no. But circumcision doesn't cause a hunk of metal to bang against someone's teeth while giving a blowjob.

Yeah, I knowww! Mine's still new and I've STILL been doing daily salt soaks because it feels as if it's still brand new. I'm closing in on the 2 months mark. Only 10 more months to go. icon_sad.gif
