jpBITCHva saidPat Buchanan: "Why the Jews and the Faggots Are Ruining Amerkica".

This is the man who single-handedly cost Bush 41 a second term. Why would anyone care to read his blatherings?

True about Bush 41 and the same was also true regarding Reagan and 38 and 39 can say the same about Teddy.

Still, I will likely read it or at least the talking book for the drive to and from Detroit. However, what a downer for bookends to the Detroit Auto Show. I'll need Mr B's in Royal Oak for a few beers by the time I get up there the Friday night before the first public days.

Mr B's is about 5 or 6 blocks from my first detroit hangout from back when I was a kid. I bet you can guess what I'm talking about from the pics I've posted in the past.

A new low for this forum's Republican trolls. WHY are you spamming this garbage here? Pat Buchanan is a far-right, racist , homophobic extremist. The quotes from the book in that link you posted show that. Media Matters has a collection of this wacko's insane ramblings.

Too bad Sirius / XM doesn't offer a way to subscribe to talking books. I have several of Buchanan's books signed, but I just don't have much time anymore for a book in print.

I'm with you JP, I'll add that this man is a bigot, rather than his saying "the Jews and Faggots Are Ruining America", he should have looked in the mirror and he'd have seen a bigoted fundamentalist christian adherent, that is currently part of what is ruining America.

He and his white skinned supremicist ilk are scared to death of becoming a minority and the brown skinned man being equal, as noted by his statement, "where equality is enthroned, freedom is extingueshed. The rise of the egalitarian society means the death of the free society." Personaly, I'm looking forward to the day when these old bigoted farts are no longer in positions of power.

While I don't agree with a lot of what Pat Buchannan says (obviously), he is absolutely right about the death of the west, regardless of how anyone wants to interpret it (good or bad). It's highly absurd to pretend that the culture of any nation in the world, whether it's Japan or China or African nations can subsist as a meaningful cultural and national power after the people who primarily created the basis for that culture have finally become a minority. Is this a good or bad thing? I guess that's just for the people to decide. But that it will become something different entirely is unquestionable. Pointing out facts like this does not make anyone racist.

The west is like the native Americans of old, except they are welcoming and extolling their extinction as something praise-worthy rather than fighting and finally succumbing as the native americans did. I guess that does seem strange and unlike anything else in history, but humanity has a fascinating way of coming up with new ideas of what "progress" should be or look like.

Not following. How does a changing demographic (meaning, I suppose, fewer European-descended white people) affect the culture of the United States? Of course changing a demographic, to a very large extent, changes the culture. Take Japan for instance, let's say immigrants from Mexico, Africa, Russia, etc eventually displaced the Japanese population (which they won't because Japan is very nationalistic), do you honestly believe that everything entailed in Japanese culture would just transfer to everyone else displacing it? Japanese history, ethnic heritage, the art, the cultural dress, the cultural ceremonies, the sculptural art and the skills in making it, the history etc etc would never survive in a way more meaningful than simply a remembrance of history in a text book or a halloween costume. All of those cultural skills and traits come only from passing it down generation after generation because of a sense of familial, cultural and ethnic belonging.

The point is that if someone who is Japanese were to say that they want Japan to be homogenous that there isn't anything wrong with that, it's just a preference, it doesn't mean they hate other nations of people or countries it just means they want to preserve what they have. However, if anyone in the west (even in Europe) were to express a view like that they would instantly be regarded as racist by yourself and most other people.

I grew up along Woodward, at least after we hightailed it out to the suburbs. We were very near Long Lake and Woodward, if you know the area....where the Kingsley Inn was (though now I think it's a Radisson) and the Fox and Hounds used to be across the intersection. Those two establishments bequeathed me the lifelong certainty that waiting tables is not a great way to make a living.

As to Royal Oak, that's further down around 12 Mile. We didn't go there much (Birmingham was too close and too interesting to bother with Royal Oak.) All I remember of Royal Oak is a cute little downtown that had a $1 movie theater that showed old movies (about the only way you could see them in those days), and of course Father Coughlin's big phallus of a church, the Shrine of the Little Flower.

Sure I know where it is. When I go up there in the summer I go all the up I-75 to Big Beaver (easy now, this is a gay forum) and drop down to Maple to head into Birmingham

The folks bootstrapped Royal Oak into something real decent over the last ten years. Back in the day about all we had was Poyal Pontiac as an attraction on Main Street and some mean ass cops looking for a guy doing what a guy's gotta do. I still don't understand how I got thrown in jail for a few hours for something called 'speed contest' … me ... little innocent me? The other driver was an engineer for Pontiac Division and had MI manufactures plates on his company car. That’s a damn good way to get in trouble.

    S. Main st in Royal Oak. Big improvement! This is the week before the 2008 event - a very down year for detroit, but Royal Oak was hopping.

What years did you work there? You may have dutifully waited on my buddies and me. I had a burgundy over black 62 4 speed, tri power Grand Prix. Several of the other guys were driving Royal Bobcat GTOs. I think I was the only full-body there, but there were always 6 – 8 of us, and in my opinion, I think we tipped well. Mostly if it rained though because of the weather was nice we went to drive-ins. I don't know anymore, we went to Ted's Bakers Square and Totem Pole a bunch too . Totem Pole was Royal Oak. And the Bob's. I don't remember much where that was except it was south of the triangle in Birmingham.

Being a Catholic doesn't mean a person cannot have bigoted fundamentalist Christian ways of thinking, I've read a lot of what this Buchanan puts forward and its backward thinking that would take us back to the 50's and decades before, where the white man was supreme. His way of looking at things in society is antiquated and takes in all faiths. I'm white, and I could care less that in a decade or two, I may be in the minority. So what !! We're all people and whether Latino, jew, arab, indian, chinese, Japanese, European or Islanders, when we bleed its red, and all parts from any of the above will transfer to anyone. None of the above, nor myself as a white has anymore value than the others, we are all equal. What else matters ?

His statements quoted in the original reference to his book are exactly the same fears and such as the fundi's forward, read him along side the multiple fundi leaders like James Dobson who back the Republican values forum they put on every year and they all pretty well line up with Buchanon, maybe with the exception of his jewish views. No Buchannon won't be seen at a Fundi Prayer meeting getting struck by the 'spirit of god' and talking in tungues, but their politics line right up. and that's close enough for both to be dangerously alined.

Christian fundamentalism is religous. Religion obviously influences many ppls' political views. Yet, religion and politics do not ever completely overlap.
Moreover, what I disagree w/ is your misuse of terminology. Nothing more, nothing less.

I think we're coming together, I see Buchanon and many like him going along with the Christian Fundi side that would mix religion and Government, they'll vote with the Christian Fundi's because they are on the 'Republican team' so while he may not be an actual Christian Fundi, his vote is just as dangerous because it ends up the same. those people should scare anyone who treasures a secular government (separation of church and state) I do see what your getting at.

Last time I checked the Japanese didn't sail there, rape and kill the natives, bring over slaves, and then attempted to pretend like none of it ever happened, and then tried to spend the rest of eternity claiming what an open and welcoming culture it has. icon_rolleyes.gif Japan has always been a very proud nation that's based it's self in respect for ancestry and tradition, America? Not so much.

And all this talk of cultural appropriation and not a single visual aid

Also I guess it's a little too much for Mocktwinkies brain to handle, but you do know American culture is heavily built on the backs of non-whites right? People who aren't even credited in most textbooks.

True, it was founded by European white people 400 years ago, but, um, they haven't had a lock on things for at least a century. Probably more. So what exactly is the point here?

There is nothing inherently "right" or "wrong" in cultures appearing or disappearing, but one's interest for preserving something or not caring at all if it disappears is their choice.

Oh yeah, they were certainly a very proud nation all right

This is the man who single-handedly cost Bush 41 a second term. Why would anyone care to read his blatherings?

I'm with you JP, I'll add that this man is a bigot, rather than his saying "the Jews and Faggots Are Ruining America", he should have looked in the mirror and he'd have seen a bigoted fundamentalist christian adherent, that is currently part of what is ruining America.

He and his white skinned supremicist ilk are scared to death of becoming a minority and the brown skinned man being equal, as noted by his statement, "where equality is enthroned, freedom is extingueshed. The rise of the egalitarian society means the death of the free society." Personaly, I'm looking forward to the day when these old bigoted farts are no longer in positions of power.

actually, Mr. Buchanan CANNOT be a "fundamentalist christian adherent." he's Roman Catholic not protestant.

Good point. I would have caught it earlier, but it is pointless reading RLD's post as they kinda all go like this:

GOD DAMN FAR RIGHT FUNDANMENTALIST TALIBAN TBAGGERS

Oh yeah and with the cap lock stuck

LOL !!! I aim to put a new wrinkle in the narrow set of Far Right Fundi standards where they 'have the way the truth and the light' and everyone must see it their way, to which you seem to be an adherent.

GEEZER come out of the 1950's and open your eyes, these Christian Fundi Fanatics like many of the TBaggers and some of the Repub candidates they back, would take away our freedoms as soon as they gain power, so its good to expose it. (DAMN !!! there's that caps lock again !!)

while I am at it, if god has any sense he would damn some of their fanatic intransigence himself !! LOL !! His fundi followers are embarassing him, or at best giving him a bad name.

    "Christian Fundi Fanatics "

Changed that macro finally? Good for you.

And btw, Geezer, you're the same age I am. Not that I particularly mind being an old geezer, but I'm not the only geezer around here thanks to you.

Now come on 'old Geezer', my repeating that title from your previous profile among us is just to let you know that we know who you are, and its OK. Hope you know there's no problem with your age, so don't take that personally, I'm just glad your being nicer this time around here on RJ.

I'd like to know what you think about voting along with these fundi's when you know that by doing so your cutting your own gay throat? Pat Buchanon has no vested interest in gay and minority rights, so I can understand his voting along with the fundies, but I cannot understand your going along with them by when by your vote you go against your own interests. And don't come back with the lame excuse that your not a one issue voter, that won't work, there's far more at stake than just gay rights.

I'm not a one issue voter and I'm happy to see that your keyboard macro disappeared very recently. You know … this one “GOD DAMN FAR RIGHT FUNDAMENTALIST TALIBAN TBAGGERS” when you pushed pushed 'ctrl H for hate'. I can imagine your outrage if someone said similar about Islam, let alone in every freaking post.

And for Pat Buchanan, yes I read material from those I don’t necessarily agree with in every way. I even read one of Obama’s favorite books, Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals” and I certainly have issues with that one. I’ll accept opinion from all sides and make my own decision where I stand on an issue

And for being an old geezer, I’m perfectly fine with that as long as I’m not a wheezer.

And furthermore, you let me worry about "cutting my own gay throat". That's my business and none of yours. Thank you.

Well I have to say that I always hate to see people duped into voting against their own interests, but I guess you've fallen for the duping that so many Christian Fundi's and TBaggers have. But in their case they at least are getting their social restrictions on the rest of us that they want so bad, that is if they do win with the Republicans. What will you be getting out of joining them with your vote ? Very little I suspect, except for restrictions on your rights.
