This song is great and very catchy, personally I love this song. But has anyone actually looked at the lyrics to it? Here they are and tell me what you think:

    Robert's got a quick hand
    He'll look around the room
He won't tell you his plan
He's got a rolled cigarette hanging out his mouth
    He's a cowboy kid
Yeah, he found a six-shooter gun
In his dad's closet hidden in a box of fun things
And I don't even know what
But he's coming for you, yeah, he's coming for you

All the other kids with the pumped up kicks
You'd better run, better run, outrun my gun
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks
You'd better run, better run, faster than my bullet
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks
You'd better run, better run, outrun my gun
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks
You'd better run, better run, faster than my bullet

    Daddy works a long day
He be coming home late, yeah, he's coming home late
And he's bringing me a surprise
Because dinner's in the kitchen and it's packed in ice
I've waited for a long time
Yeah, the slight of my hand is now a quick pull trigger
    I reason with my cigarette
And say your hair's on fire
You must have lost your wits, yeah

All the other kids with the pumped up kicks
You'd better run, better run, outrun my gun
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks
You'd better run, better run, faster than my bullet
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks
You'd better run, better run, outrun my gun
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks
You'd better run, better run, faster than my bullet

All the other kids with the pumped up kicks
You'd better run, better run, outrun my gun
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks
You'd better run, better run, faster than my bullet
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks
You'd better run, better run, outrun my gun
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks
You'd better run, better run, faster than my bullet
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks
You'd better run, better run, outrun my gun
All the other kids with the pumped up kicks
You'd better run, better run, faster than my bullet

    Does anyone remember Columbine?

Here's the video for that song:

And here's another song it reminds me of:

This song is based on the true story of Brenda Ann Spencer, a California teenager who in January 1979 shot at the elementary school across from her house, killing two people and injuring 9 others. When asked why she committed the gun attack Spencer replied, "I just did it for the fun of it. I don't like Mondays. This livens up the day. I have to go now. I shot a pig [policeman] I think and I want to shoot more. I'm having too much fun [to surrender]."

This song is overplayed but it's so damn catchy that I am not even tired of hearing it yet. Their album is awesome though. Hopefully, they will release "Warrants" next.

I heard this song a couple times and thought, "Why the fuck is this popular!?". With that being said... I'm glad I don't listen to the radio.

I didn't really like the song the first couple of times I heard it. That is until I actually listened to the lyrics. Now I love it, primarily due to the dichotomy between the upbeat happy beat and the dark lyrics along with the soulless empty way in which its sung.

I always liked songs with dark lyrics and happy beats. Such as santeria, wrong way and date rape by sublime.

Uhg my goto song of the summer was party rock anthem. I almost feel dirty admitting that. I'd rather admit sucking 37 dicks in a row.

    Well thank god summers over.

Hey, Party Rock Anthem wasn't bad. It actually might have gotten some people to learn the Shuffle, and it doesn't have creepy lyrics. Plus, the music video had Quest Crew!!! I <3 those boys.

Some info about "Pumped Up Kicks"

When "Pumped Up Kicks" was first recorded, frontman Mark Foster played all of the song's instruments for what he thought was going to be just a demo, but the version he recorded ended up as the final version on Torches. The song is about a troubled and delusional youth with homicidal thoughts. Foster said, "I was trying to get inside the head of an isolated, psychotic kid." He stated in an interview with KROQ-FM that the lyrics were written to "bring awareness" to the issue of gun violence amongst youth, which he feels is an epidemic perpetuated by "lack of family, lack of love, and isolation". Contrasting with the dark lyrics of the song, the music, written before the lyrics, is upbeat, with a heavy bassline and a mixture of acoustic and electronic elements. Foster said, "It's a 'fuck you' song to the hipsters in a way—but it's a song the hipsters are going to want to dance to." Jeffery Berg of Frontier Psychiatrist said, "I was so engrossed with the cheery melody of its chorus that it took me a few listens to discover that the lyrics suggest dark, Columbine revenge." Some say that the song is most likely a reference to the Westroads Mall shooting in Omaha, Nebraska the shooter being Robert Hawkins and the first lyrics of the song are "Robert's got a quick hand," and also a similar situation suggested in the song when the alleged shooter steals his dad's revolver, when in real life Hawkins stole his stepfather's AKM-style rifle. However, the band's publicist told an Omaha World Herald reporter "This is completely false. The character name in the song is just a coincidence."

I hate to admit it, but I like the song too. I like the catch tune matched with the dark lyrics. I read about the song and the story behind it. I don't listen to the radio much, so I haven't become sick of the song yet.

I liked this song but now that I've read the lyrics it disturbs me because I was a building away from the April 16th shootings at VT

Another "ironic" song to add to the previously mentioned ones. It was played at many graduation ceremonies during the 80's. icon_lol.gif

I think it sounds like a GAP commercial.
