Sorry. I gave myself food poisoning last year, but it was better after a full 24 hours. Keep hydrated, and sleep as much as you can!

    +1

No more antacids plox. They can worsen diarrhea (although... find me a drug that doesn't list that as a side effect). Less acid = happy microorganisms.

Coconut water is my go to fluid replacement (K+), along with a salty broth of some kind, while avoiding caffeine.

I would lying on my right side, to keep from running to the bathroom every 15 minutes.

If it's an issue, I'd probably take an antidiarrheal too if I didn't have a fever.

Bananas, along with rice, applesauce, and toast, (BRAT) make up the BRAT diet -- often the first foods encouraged when recovering from stomach flu and ready for solid foods.

    /hugs

Watch the antacids. Stomach acid kills bacteria. If you take too many antacids or acid reducers, you will make it easier for the bacteria to grow.

The B.R.A.T. diet is a good suggestion, if you can hold food down. I like to drink Gatorade G2 (low calorie gatorade). It has some electrolytes, but it's lower on sugar, which can feed bad bacteria.

I hope you feel better soon.

I am not a doctor. But, I've had doctors tell me to take "Immodium AD" to slow the colon down.

Anyone else think that's a good idea?

Immodium AD is a good idea for common cases. I think the main thing to watch with this or any other OTC medication is that you don't ignore a more serious problem by covering up the symptoms. Based on what the OP said about feeling better, he probably just has a relatively minor illness that should clear up soon.

Water down the Gatorade if you're drinking it. It can upset your stomach. Otherwise, go with ginger ale or coconut water. It's super important to stay hydrated. Sleep as much as possible. I hope you feel better soon.

Heh. Just remembered this was the solution for getting my colon back in order after a round of Suprax destroyed my intestinal flora.

Probiotics would have been better for that, but at least it worked.

Trollileo saidI got the stomach flu or food poisoning on my last date around June. It was AWESOME!

How long has it been going on? It'll probably end really soon if you already feel better. Took me about 20 hours to go through my bout.

Had a friend who went through an extended illness. The end result is he was able to drop Weight Watchers as he shot past his goal weight.

Course he was back in the program within six months. B-)

I think there's some sort of 24hr bug going around right now. Hit me Thursday I was feeling like a zombie as well and every bone in my body was achey. I put it down to an over zealous workout and being tired but then by nightfall the chills set in and I was up and down as much as a whore working two beds all night, then slept all of the day away.. Just feeling better now

Better than getting mono and then losing about twenty pounds of muscle.

Eww. That sounded gross for some reason.
