Ok who is going to Gay Day's in Orlando? My boyfriend and I will be going for the first time but it seems like it is such a huge event we don't know what to hit and where to stay at etc. Can anyone shed some insight? Is anyone else going? We are going to be there June 6th through the 8th. Thanks guys.

A friend here in Phoenix invited me so I am going -- have never been -- not sure I will make all the wall-to-wall parties, but definitely plan on checking out the one at The Water Park and maybe a few others. Hope to meet some of you there if you're going.

I am going with my best friend and his bf and a softball buddy is going to meet us there. I gotta buy some red shirts.

Not sure about the "curcuit" parties at the hotel, too many drugs usually. But the parks should be fun.

I went last year and I'm pissed I cant go this year. It's a blast. Make sure you are staying at Buena Vista, it just makes everything easier. (shuttles to events and isn't hard to find rides with people) I made a ton of friends last year that I still stay in touch with. The pool parties are awesome, main events are really really huge and the afterhours is everything you'd expect it to be. I found everyone is really laid back because they are on vacation and they tend to lose that 'bitchy' attitude that most have in their home towns (at least the ones from boston, NY and LA) It kills me I can't be there this year because it's probably the closest thing I could think of to gay heaven.

We are going. This will make it our fifth time to Gay Days. We always have a blast at Disney. We have never done the parties, however last year we discovered the Adventures Club at Pleasure Island. We liked it so much we end up there every night and even stayed a extra day.

We are counting down the days until we leave.

Its going to be a weird weekend this year. Apparently, the organizers failed to pay the whole bill last year and stiffed Disney/Universal. So no Beach Ball at Typhoon Lagoon, No One Mighty Part at MGM, and no Coliseum at Universal. The Arabian nights drug parties will still be going on (if thats your thing), and the afternoon pool parties will still be going on. But, its going to be a smaller event this year.

...actually another company picked up the Typhoon Lagoon party, not sure the name of it - though a friend is getting me details. Not sure about the MGM party though, that one may still be off. I'll post whatever I find out though!

So this year is going to be very different.

To help clarify, let me give a run down of whats going on this year. This includes the changes to OMW, plus information on all the NEW parties takign place this year, including Envibe Orlando, Shaun and Pauls Gay Day Reborn, and Lets Go Play at Typhoon Lagoon.

    ONE MIGHTY WEEKEND

One Mighty Weekend(OMW) as it has been in the past will not be going on. According to insiders who were there, The main venue locations demanded full payment up front for the events and Johnny Chisholm couldn't foot the total bill up front, so Disney cancelled the reservations (rumor here in Orlando has it that Disney is wanting to get out of the circuit party scene at its parks anyway). That being said, here's a run down of One Mighty Weekend:

Host hotel is still the Buena Vista Palace, HOWEVER, contrary to previous years, where the whole hotel was reserved for OMW party goers (meaning the whole hotel was gay), this year, because of the venue changes and financial setbacks, the hotel decided to open up blocks of the hotel to the general public. The hotel was less than 50% booked as of the end of April so they made this decision. This means that there will be families etc staying at the hotel as well as the gaydays/OMW clientele (should make for a hillarious and at times problematic scene)
    - All 3 Reunion Pool Parties are still taking place at the Buena Vista Palace poolside as they have the past several years. Tickets are like 30$ per pool party, OR 60$ for all three parties if purchased before hand. I personally think these are one of the best parts or GayDays/OMW.

    - Thursday is JumpStart with DJ Eddy Baez at the House of Blues in Downtown Disney

    - Friday is BeachBall Luau and it will be held at the Buena Vista Palace poolside (NOT at Typhoon Lagoon waterpark, where it has been in previous years) Even tho the party is just at the hotels pool and not the waterpark, the price is still almost 100$.

    - Saturday - One Might Party with DJ Roland Belmares will be held at the Gaylord Palms Hotel ballroom. (NOT at MGM/Hollywood Studios theme park as in previous years) again, the venue is much poorer but the price is still almost 100$

    - Sunday - All Stars "Deep Blue World" party. will be held in the Buena Vista Palace hotel ballroom. yet again..venue sucks, price the same.

The afterhours circuit parties at Arabian nights will also be still going on as usual, same as the previous years.

you can get more information on One Mighty Weekend, host hotel info, and tickets on their website. onemightyweekend.com

    Parliament House Resort

-Thursday night will be P.I. @ P.H. Gay Days Kickoff block party . DJ Brianna. No Cover till 11pm. PHouse tries to bring back the feel and fun of Mannequins at Pleasure Island (Disney shut down P.I. permanently last year)

-Friday/Saturday/Sunday- Various porn stars every night. on SUNDAY, no cover before 8pm!!.

more info at their website, parliamenthouse.com

    ENVIBE Orlando. Gay Days Reimagined.

Host Hotel: Mona Lisa Suites Hotel

    Friday - No events scheduled

-Saturday - Mike Cruz will headline a VIP cocktail party benefit for Hope and Help, CruzGroove, which will be held at the Mona Lisa Hotel from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.All proceeds from that party are going to Hope and Help.

-Sunday - WONDERLAND. party at the Hard Rock Live at Universal Studios. featuring DJs Alyson Calagna & Brett Henrichsen. 70$

These parties are affiliated with Mark Baker, who's famous for putting on great productions.

for More information see website, envibeorlando.com

GAY DAY REBORN by Shaun and Paul Presents and MOS Global Events

Friday - "Block Party". DJ Skribble at Destiny nightclub. NYC invades Gay Days for the first time with America's number 1 DJ. 20$

Saturday - "Motion" featuring DJ Manny Lehman at Motion nightclub. 40$ entry.

Shaun and Paul put on great stuff, so I'm sure these parties will be a lot of fun and worth the price.
Weekend passes are available, for more info see website. gaydayreborn.com

    GAY DAYS® 2009

I am not going to even try and list everything that GAY DAYS® is putting on for the whole weekend. This is a wonderful organization and the founder of the events weekend here in Orlando. There's a kickoff party at Saks Fifth Ave on friday, a wine tasting to benefit the Orlando Youth Alliance, get togethers for gay families, persons recovering from drug/alcohol addiction etc, the GayDays Expo, Girls at Gay Days, pool parties at the Royal Plaza hotel, Red shirt day at Disneys Magic Kingdom etc etc ..I could go on and on, i just recommend you go to their website, gaydays.com to find more info on all the wonderful things they've arranged for the weekend.

    LETS GO PLAY 2009

Lets Go Play at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon circuit party. Friday night the 5th June. DJ Lydia Prim. 69$ This sounds like it will be a lot of fun.

for more info see website letsgoplay2009.com

ok, Those are all the major events going on that I am aware of...

There are even more events going on that cater to different groups of the LGBT community that I dno't have all the info on them,

There is a Bear themed Tidal Wave Party at Wet 'n Wild Water park on Friday for example. I don't know the price or a website but I'm sure its online somewhere.

Whoa...ok I'm done i think. I've tried to be somewhat neutral in describing the events, tho I'm sure my disdain for OMW's event changes and the way it was handled have to be apparent. At any rate...it seems like this year will be a lot of fun, there are a LOT of new parties going on and that means there's a much larger selection and competition should be greater so the parties should be awesome.

if anyone has anymore questions, shoot...and Please come to Orlando and have a great time!

    Great Job OrlFlMuscle!

Some of the BIG parties are going to be smaller and different, but maybe that is not going to be such a bad thing.
Different is good and I urge everyone to visit us in Orlando icon_biggrin.gif

This is totally off topic from the events but my buddy actually hosts OUTLOUD ORLANDO: The Homo Happy Hour. It is Central Florida's GLBT radio show (but not like am militant gay talk radio). It's pretty funny and give news throughout, too.

They had the co director of Gay Days on their show last week and having a ton of special guests and gay days related news and events this week.

Check it on on 91.5 fm WPRK if you are in town or you can listen online wprkfm.com worldwide.

Friday, June 5th (noon to 3pm) Special Gay Days Extravaganza show

If you're driving around lost in your rental car or recovering from the night before by the pool, it's worth checking out.

Sorry to break it to you, but Disney closed down ALL of Pleasure Island. It is now just a bunch of boarded up buildings as of last fall.icon_sad.gif

Yes, Pleasure Island is gone in its entirety. Disney closed it in the fall of 08 and is going to be opening more shops and restaurants in that area, its currently under construction. Parliament House is doing a P.I. night on Thursday, i think they got one of the bartenders from Mannequins to bartend that night. they're doing a Mannequins theme or something. THen there's Johnny Chisholms thing at the House of Blues, which they started doing last year. So there are things going on, but there will be no P.I. on Thursday night this year.

    jprichva saidI loathe Disney.

What don't you loathe? You have the most sour attitude of anyone on this site. Everyone else is so excited about going to Gay Days and you have to bring everyone down. I don't want to start some silly side discussion, but if all you have to add is your sour opinion - why not keep it to yourself.

I also realize I should probably keep my negative opinion to myself as well, but damn.

I won't respond to any other commentary, since I don't want to perpetuate this so from my perspective this thread about your negativity is over.
