So I was in a relationship with this guy I met back in June. About a month and a half ago he just stopped talking to me and ignored me, so I just dropped it the day after.

Around 2:00 this morning, however, he posts to my wall on Facebook "i lost your number when i updated my phone (along with 23 other numbers) Txt me?"
Now of course that's utter bullshit because he didn't inform the owners of the so-called "23 other (bullshit) numbers," but I decided to play along and give him my number over Facebook (he was offline by then).

Later this morning I ask him if he got my number, then he just logs off ten minutes later without saying a word. What do I make of all of this?

Make of it that he's got major issues.

Ignore him. Anyone who is dating you for six weeks and then drops you without saying anything about it is a piece of shit. The end!

Sounds like a big deal breaker. I get very disheartened by many of these stories because I've experienced many of the same. Guys that simply just ignore you even if you've dated for awhile.

Boys are stupid, and you found a really dumb one.

Why even bother with it. You want a guy who's mature, not playing games.

How can you flake on your boyfriend? That sounds worse than a stereotypical blonde.

You'd be surprised on how many times I've seen this happen too. Lots of guys have a sudden change of mind, and don't even bother in letting the other person know. It's ridiculous

We'd been dating since June, not for just six weeks.

You grow some balls, pick up the phone, call him and say what the fuck?

Unless you love the drama which seems most people do, stop dancing around the subject, and posting on each others walls like a couple of 14 year old girls. Take control of the situation. Be a man.

He doesn't suddenly post on your wall at 2AM to get in touch when he could have tried contacting you any other time in the last month and a half.

On one hand you have a booty call. On the other hand you have mind games.
    Stay away!

How do you know he didn't ask the other 23 people for their numbers? (some of them would have had their numbers readily available through facebook anyway)

I just call it like I see it. This is the new culture we're raising: people scared of confrontation and interpersonal relations. It is way too easy to post on a wall, tag a pic, send an email or a text, rather than actually deal with someone face to face and get your answer. So much drama and interpretation is created by all this technology. I mean you had to start a whole topic on the possible hidden meaning of this guy's wall post instead of just man up and call him and ask??

Sometimes I look at all this stuff that's supposed to be bringing us closer and realize that it only divides us further.

Exes are often ex for a good reason. And that reason sometimes keeps compounding after the split. Count yourself lucky for having made the break, and man the firewalls.

It should be a social requirement to stricken any mention of exes out of people's dialogue unless they're with the first stages of breakup/grieving and unstable. Otherwise, it should be ignored. I never benefited from mentioning my before. Can't think of anyone else who has, who wasn't still friends with benefits; or lying to themselves and each other about breaking up.

True, but only if you actively allow it to. It is what you make of it, and if you use it to keep people at a distance you'll find no shortage of ways to do so.
