Well, here in the states most phones are subsidized with a 2yr contract with a carrier of your choice.

Samsung and HTC seem like good brands. I will never buy LG phone ever again. I had an LG Vue and that phone was such a piece of crap I couldn't stand it.

    Mobiledia

I've been getting info for all of my cellphone needs. Although, touchscreen smartphones now rule the market, so don't be surprised if there is a lack on cheap cellphone/clamshell reviews.">

Google "opinions on good cell phones"

Serious - you'll find some decent links to articles.

CNET probably has some good reviews. I usually look at both the official reviews and the user reviews to get an idea of which products are good.

Here's a quick link for you:

    http://reviews.cnet.com/cell-phones/?tag=hdr;brandnav

If you click on the Best Cell Phones link, you'll see which ones CNET rates the highest. You'll also see additional categories on the right, like Best Basic Phones. I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for. You'll have to browse a little to find the features and price range you want.

As other people have mentioned, I say to go cnet.com. Their reviews aren't always accurate, but they give a video description of each phone which is helpful.
