I don't know that it's really the type most guys go for. Some people are more attracted to people who look more like them (same race, ethnicity, etc.). Other people are more attracted to people who look like the opposite of them, maybe because it seems more exotic.

Funny, I've found that I can see beauty and feel attracted to all "types". It doesn't mean that i like everyone, but I can find some desirable traits in different ethnicities or whatever.

Now, when it comes to love, if I'm in love it doesn't really matter the looks, really it doesn't. Even I get surprised with that.

It seems to me that certain "types" have certain "types".

In my experience, a lot of that Ricky Martin/Latin type has Eastern European as their type. The last guy I dated was Brazilian and would go after almost anything if it was 1) white 2) blond and 3) blue eyed. Guys I would not even find attractive, but he was all over because they were a type. I know a whole bunch of Latin guys who say they hit on me explicitly because their type is tall and white... It's kinda racist, and offensively reductivist (so... it's not me you like, it's my height and skin color?) but it makes Miami vacations pretty fun haha.

I've had similar experiences. (The best one was when I was the only short guy and the only non-blond in a bar in Helsinki....) I suspect it's more that we're attracted to the "exotic", where "exotic" will vary based on what one grew up around.

I tend to draw blondes and redheads.

But my type is twink to lean-athletic Asians and Latinos, though not a carved in granite law.

I think so. I'll admit I fall for the exotic card kinda often... if I'm at a gay venue, Latin gets my attention pretty quickly.

But honestly, if I'm going to date someone, my "type" is humble, strong, and good-hearted.

I wouldnt say that. Im pretty ordinary and people find me attractive. We are attracted to what we are attracted too, that is about it.

I prefer someone not so immigranty, more all-American, you know, like this:

    Chris-Hemsworth-Thor.jpg

ps: - I know he is from Australia. ;-)

This is very true. After posting up there, I thought of a few anecdotal counterexamples - guys who were attracted to whatever wasn't exotic in their community - and consequently crippled my own theory.

Possibly. I used to be a lot more hung up on certain types. As I've gotten older, I've opened my mind to being attracted to a lot of different types of people. Did I change my type? Or was I always attracted to those people but I was close-minded for some other reason?

Question. Are you possibly not attracted to who you are attracted too?

Its a trick question. I said we are attracted to who we are attracted too, a statement that can in no way shape or form be false. You said possibly, as if their is a way for it to be false. Im pointing out that it doesnt matter what you type, we are attracted to who we are attracted too. Nothing said attraction cant change.

I'm not sure I understand the original post. Ricky Martin may be latin, but he's not dark and definitely not muscular like Achilles.

Ah, I get it now. You're right. I was inferring that you meant we all had a fixed type.

Oh I love me some red head and blond guys. I prefer beefier guys over the Adonis, athletic type, so I just did a 180 on the OP's "type".

For some reason, Western Europeans and Catholics like me.
