"Top 5% finishers of all events qualify for World’s Toughest Mudder." (OOOOOH, MOTIVATION!!!! STOKED!!!)

"Tough Mudder will punish you, no matter your shape or size or current level of fitness. As such, we encourage all Mudders to increase their physical training in anticipation of the event. That said, the event is as much about mental toughness, grit, and camaraderie (and having a great time) as anything physical.

In terms of what you are looking at: each Tough Mudder course will have 10-12 miles of hills, mud, water, ropes, walls, electric shocks, and of course, fire. Check out the course map for the specific event(s) in which you’re enlisted to learn more."

    ------------------------------------------------------------

Signing up as soon as I can afford to! This looks amazing, I love physical challenges, and this will be two weeks before my first full marathon... Hopefully enough time to recover from it, barring an injury.

Has anyone here done a similar event?

I dunno, if I were running my first full marathon in two weeks, I'd opt against doing a tough mudder event. Maybe do another tough mudder after you've recovered from the marathon.

That would be a nice challenge indeed. I got tickets for the Saturday and Sunday events in Tampa in my chiropractor's team but I'm gonna be busy that weekend so I'm reselling them to my friend and his roommates. Maybe I'll do one next year if my schedule permits.

I did Tough Mudder back in May in VT. It was a totally fun race. The obstacles weren't too bad, but the hills were rough (it was at a ski mountain and part of the hills were straight up black diamonds). Definitely worth doing but train hills.

Anybody doing the World's Toughest Mudder in December in Jersey? I'm a little worried about this 24 hour version of the race in cold december. Anybody have a good training strategy? It is going to be brutal.
