ABC Anchor Dan Kloeffler Comes Out

    His blog
    http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/lifestyle/2011/10/to-boldly-go/
"Kind of a big moment for me while filling in on World News Now," Kloeffler wrote in a blog post, "which is by far the most fun you can legally have at 3:00 in the morning!" (Kloeffler's co-host Yunji de Nies, perhaps not realizing how a big a moment it was, laughed through that part of the segment.)

Kloeffler, a former NBC News staffer and MSNBC host, said he had never disclosed his sexual orientation on the air "even though I've been out to my family, friends and co-workers for years."

"In fact, an old boyfriend--now best friend--has always given me a hard time about not doing so," Kloeffler wrote. "But for the same reason that Zach decided to come out, I too, no longer wanted to hide this part of my life.

"There have been too many tragic endings and too many cases of bullying because of intolerance," he continued. "As a kid I wanted someone to look up to, someone that could relate to the feelings I was having. Most of all, I wanted to know that it would get better."
The video itself is misleading as he never says he is gay, but the article does describe in more detail what he meant with his words. he meant that he could drop the rule of dating actors - meaning he would totally date Zachary Quinto. Who wouldn't?!

Anyways, it's nice to see the reasoning behind his recent coming out - very touching!

I wouldn't date him. He'd cut my brain open and steal my super powers.

I'm very proud of him for his courage. I have no idea who he is, but I'm still very proud of him.

Ditto. I don't get ABC over the air because of my location.

Sam Champion was accidently outed by a upper social register party guest who while being interviewed mentioned that the party had been hosted by Champion and his partner. They have been reported as being cozy all over NYC.

I liked that. A very simple, casual comment in an on-air conversation. No fanfare. No press releases. No scandal.

    That's how it should be.
