Now the Israelis can invent a way to "float" their country out of the Middle East! icon_biggrin.gif

But no really this is the most amazing thing!!!

"You" may have just discovered this as a concept, but "we" didn't just discover it by a longshot.

Here is a video of a man explaining it, very nonchalant, in April of 2008.

That was a cool science fair, though. icon_biggrin.gif

    We Just Discovered Anti-Gravity!

Not quite "just." I saw demonstrations like this in the 1950s.

this has nothing to do with anti-gravity

I was hoping for something more along the lines of the Asimovian Gravitic Drive from Foundation's Edge. icon_sad.gif

are you stupid? this is old tech, something that's called 'Superconductors'. Something that even high school kids learn about.

Actually while superconductors were discovered in 1911, the Meissner effect which is the magnetic repulsion property was discovered in 1933.

+1 they are just using a super conductor that has been cooled below its critical temperature...

I've read about this kind of thing before, but this is the first time I've seen a video demonstration. Very cool.

A yes, just in time for 2012! they finally admitted it... they have been in leaugue with the aliens all along and are now coming out with the technology they learned icon_razz.gif..

Jokes and conspiracy theories aside.... it stands to be seen how well the beautiful science of physics will be used for beneficial purposes.... its not like there is much peace in that region and we all know what humanity did with the last few discoveries of this like... But considering the speed of technology advancement I would hope we'll be able to build above ground infrastructure, even floating movable cities, within a few decades... just like I've always dreamed icon_biggrin.gif

Hi BAMF. Sorry you're being slammed. Of course this is cool. Perhaps we should all make a list of things that are really, really neato that BAMF hasn't seen yet.

MuchMoreThanMuscle saidAs for the topic, if demonstrations of suspension have been around since the early 1900's and since many of us have never heard of this I'd like to hear what purpose this serves or how we can use this technology. Seems like all it is good for is some demonstration at a science fair.

I didn't want to say anything because I'm not that familiar with the subject (and because of the way people act around here), but this isn't the same kind of suspension that has been around since last century. I think that this is a newer kind of quantum manipulation that is a relatively new discovery. This isn't just two magnets repelling each other.
