Being called cute by guys you like.

I used to think being called cute was a great compliment to get from a guy you like, but now I'm starting to think it's the kiss of death, especially if he knows your personality and isn't just commenting on your pic or something. I used to think that if a guy said you were cute it meant

"You're cute, I would consider dating/XXXing with you"

But now i think it means something more to the effect of

"You're cute, It's not that I find you attractive, I just want to rub your belly and feed you cookies."

I get called cute a lot, which is why it is of particular concern to me. icon_neutral.gif

    Thoughts?

Personally, I think there are two types of cute.

One type is when someone looks adorable, and you just want to cuddle with them (and more) all day and night.

The other type is when someone (regardless of being hot or not) does something cute according to behaviour, like making a cute facial expression.

Then again, John Krasinski kinda fits the first category for me as well. He just needs a bit more muscle :X

I've never thought of "cute" as a way of saying "I'd like to date you." When I get called "cute" I assume it means the guy feels like I'm attractive in some objective way, but I'm not his type (No guy who has ever said I'm cute has ever actually pursued me). That's also the way I tend to use cute.

Handsome, sexy, stunning... these are the adjectives I use and take as signals of "I want to see more of you."

I know what you mean, kinda. I used to/sometimes still get the 'cute' comment more than others too (which is always nice, but to some people, you want them to think of you as more than just puppy-dog 'cute' ), but the older I get the more comments like 'hot' or 'handsome', or the like, tend to slip in the mix (not being a conceited douche here peeps, just keeping it real and on topic...;p).

Sometimes I still get told 'cute'. One really hot french model I was seeing, and really did like a lot- who is technically 'smoking hot' but whom I found really cute in his mannerisms and speech (which was what made me like him infinitely more than for his looks alone) , clearly must have found my 'cuteness' attractive too though, evidently. So it's not always the auto kiss of death, IMO.

Some people have 'cute' faces, yet may have 'hot' bodies, and some people like/prefer that combo.

I think there are different types of cute too.

Some are 'aw, yh, cute, I can certainly see why people fancy you, but you don't really rev my motor in that way, personally', or 'totally adorable, let's cuddle and kiss' whilst others are 'omg, you're sooo cute, you make me melt, I can see myself falling for somebody like you', it depends.

Ugh, I feel like I get that "I'm cute" ALL the time. It drives me nuts. But I do agree that there are different types. Some guys wanna cuddle with me, some guys wanna fuck me, some guys just say i'm cute in an "i'm not interested"/slightly patronizing way.

Words that generally tend to mean no chance in hell: cute, sweet, adorable, nice, you're a great guy (usually followed by but), you're such a great friend..., awwww....that's so sweet, etc. Anyone want to add some others?

Cute is a compliment at any age. Take it for what it is, be gracious, and put it in your pocket for one of those days when you feel like shit and maybe look like it too. It's the day no one calls you cute or anything else that you should fret over.

I guess I need to choose my words more carefully when I flirt. But I am not into the "hot-hot" guys, and so much more into the guys who are more innocent sweet and handsome looking. What else do you call that besides adorable and/or cute?

I am guilty of using cute but that can be synonymous with "hot" when I use it so I apologise to anyone who might have taken offence.

Cute, to us, is warm, approachable, attractive beyond physical features and do-able (when we met we thought each other very cute). icon_wink.gif

Ever see the episode of Seinfeld when the doctor Elaine likes describes her as "breath-taking"....then goes on to describe the ugly-ass baby using the same term?

So let's say you make gay men refrain from using the term "cute".
Think it will make figuring them out any easier?

basically what he said. I hate it when they called me cute. Okay if you think I'm cute, why are you still sitting so far away, why havent you asked me out on a date or why are you not grabbing my butt.

Adorable is for pet, or something you know well. Don't use it on strangers.

Handsome is way to go !

I think it means different things to different people. Whereas words like hot and sexy really refer to physical features. Cute is like the whole package to me but not exactly hot enough to want to overlook the whole package.

Eitherway, you can still fuck cute.

To me, when I use cute, I definitely do not mean "next" ... nor does adorable to me.. i use it when I actually like you

i get called cute a LOT online but rarely in person. I've never really been hit on or complimented IRL, lol. but i do hate it when someone responds to a Hotlist add or comment post with some usage of the word "cute" and just is so obviously disinterested. A lot of times I put a lot of thought into my comments and then to be brushed aside so casually as i sometimes am just tweaks me the wrong way.

To me, cute means "you are good looking/sexy and too young for me"

It is a compliment. When I call someone cute, i intend it as a compliment.

That makes sense. And its not that i truly MIND being called as such (hey, its still a compliment) but after a while when that's ALL you get called, it gets tiresome.

I'd like my guy to have a hot bod and a cute face and personality.

A stud who you want to stare at all day, waiting for him to do something adorable, and then take him to bed and fool around.

Scott Caan (in my post above) is one such candidate. I think he's super cute, and I want to pursue, date, and marry his character Danny on Hawaii Five-0. Mmm!

Agreed, why is so hard to find a guy like that who'll reciprocate the feeling though?

Because they are looking for their mr perfect, but their mr perfect doesn't reciprocate feelings to them as they are looking the same elusive lottery ticket. Ad infinitum...
