I read this in the newspaper this morning, and I just watched it. I cannot believe people let that happen. What the fuck is wrong with today's hyper-individualistic "society" ? It really looks like animals in a jungle trying to survive and not caring about the others... and even animals have a better sense of collectivity.

Beware, viewer's discretion is advise, extremely graphic content...

I can't. I cannot finish that video. I got as far as the woman picking her up... I had no idea she was STILL ALIVE at that point.

That is beyond horrible. No. Just no. Fuck this world.

I don't want to start a flame war about politics, but I am sorry... I must point out that China is a collectivist country par excellence. I couldn't finish watching. I'd like to believe that this is fake, but this is precisely what happens when you brainwash people into thinking the individual does not matter. This girl's death won't affect society as a whole, because she's just a minuscule part of it. Well, fuck that and the collectivist mentality that leads to it.

Stupid fucking Chinese. I see a lot of people acting this way with the whole "it's none of my business" mentality.

    Fixed for major accuracy

This is an example of how another Hitler can easily rise to power.

2 year girl bleeding to death in the middle of the road? No problem. Go around her.

It is not just something that happens in places like China. Whether it is the person that runs over a homeless person and doesn't do anything, or the asshole in a hummer that swerves to hit someones dog, we (most of the world) just do not give a shit about others and appreciate what a gift being alive is.

This is SO not something that is out of the ordinary. It happens EVERY DAY, this is the one that was caught on cameras.

It's sad. However, unless we were put in that situation no one would be able to say exactly our reaction. I would confess that we all are a little blind to those around us that suffer on many levels.

I hate feeling like one of the few fucking people that would immediately be like "holy shit are they okay?!" and pull out my cell phone to call an ambulance instead of taking a fucking video.

This is awful, the video is completely heartbreking, I've been reading a lot about this case for the last two days and I read that a ruling in China created precedent when a man who helped an old lady who fell, was found guilty of attacking her (when it wasn't true) and the judge said that he wouldn't have taken her to the hospital if he wasn't guilty so maybe that's why a lot of people didn't help.

Oh yeah if I saw a dying two year old I totally would just be annoyed and walk passed her.

Putting yourself in a situation makes you react differently than just imagining how you would react. But if you SEE a dying girl on the streets if you honestly think that you'd react differently by NOT doing anything about it then you might as well run yourself over with a car for being useless.

This is just unreal. I'm hearing a lot about politics and different cultural norms shaping the way people acted (or in this case, did NOT act), and I find those to be repulsive excuses.

Anyone who did not help another human being under these circumstances is atrociouis. The fact that it's a little girl does not make it any less severe, just more gut-wrenching. I really hope this is a fake video...

This video is just fucked up on so many levels. First of all, how did the driver not see her? Second of all, how did he not stop after running her over? Third of all, why was the girl walking the streets alone? Forth of all, wtf is wrong with the people for not stopping to help her?

Is this perhaps the diffused responsibility phenomenon? Like when people see something happening on the streets and everybody freezes, because everybody is thinking there are so many people, someone else will step in, so that finally nobody does? That is common in social situations.... Exceedingly common..once you are aware of it it makes you more able to act... because everyone will do it if they are not aware.. its human nature

    It's the bystander scenario/

The more people that are there, the less likely theya re to do anything, assuming someone else will.

But this goes... far above and beyond, repulsive.

Clearly these Chinese had no time to stop because they were rushing to get home from work at the iPhone factory to a slavishly prepared dinner by their subservient wives before the road is closed for the "Enslave Tibet" rally.
