I'll volunteer to get the ball rolling on this.

The place I had in mind is Nellie's in DC. I went there last night, and it's a fun, gay sports bar. If enough people are interested, we could probably book the room upstairs...otherwise, we could hang out in the bar/restaurant area. It has a rooftop deck as well...nice people, good vibe. It's also convenient to the metro (there's a green line stop about a block away).

Who is up for one? And, when do you think we should plan for?

I vote for any Saturday in June (except the 7th) or July.

I'm a former Washingtonian ( OK Northern Virginian - Fairfax County shout-out! ) and will be in DC on 7/2 so I propose you make your meetup fit my ridiculous schedule....

I'm a potential, but with me you never know what state... or country I will be in on a given week.

Hmmm...I'll be in DC the week of the 14th, but I guess thats Pride or something so it will probably be too busy.

With all the pride festivities, July is probably better for a meet-up, so let's shoot for July.

    Nellie's huh?

Couldn't really claim thats a sports bar. Duplex has a better atmosphere for a group gathering then Nellie's plus its got half the attitude. Also, parking would be better at Duplex than Nellie's so theres that and for people that just take the subway its a closer walk too.

My suggestion as to a good meet up place. I know a few guys that would come out to do a meet up that play flag football, softball, volleyball, and rugby in the DC area.
    Let us know.

the Duplex looks like a nice restaurant, but is there any place to meet that isnt "sit down." It would be easier to get to know one another if we can mingle.

I havent been to a bar in DC in years. Does Mr P's still exist. Does it still have it's deck out back? Will it be too hot in July to be outside?

There used to be a place next door to P's...the Fireside. It had a nice room upstairs with windows looking out over P St. and P St Beach.

Then there was another one on 17th near Annie's, I think. It also had a nice upstairs room, bright with windows.

I didn't get any feeling of "attitude" at Nellie's at all, but everyone is different. It just seemed like a good place for a meet-n-great from the way it's laid out.

If someone has a better idea and wants to take over putting this together, by all means, go for it!

Since only a handfull of people have responded to this, it might make more sense to wait to see if the RJ staff would be willing to add the get-togethers to the weekly email updates...

Well, if you're waiting or not, this is where I keep checking to see if it's gonna happen, because it looks like I'm finally getting my butt up there within a week or so, so I don't wanna miss out.

    I'll keep checkin'icon_cool.gif

I hate the DMV. I'm in NOVA (McLean) on business. When I'm not working I like to go to Tyson's corner to watch movies. The night I went to see Kung Fu Panda some asshole had the nerve to steel my parking stall as I was reversing into it. When I confronted him he acted like because I chose to reverse park I asked for the stall to be stolen from me regardless of how long I sat there with my blinker on waiting for that spot. I wanted to bust out his windows or slash his tires. Tyson's Corner is a pretty modern mall though so I know they have cameras all over the parking structure. The thought of him suing me made me even more angry so I just spit on his car and made sure he heard me. People out here are such pretentious pricksicon_evil.gif.

I heard a lot of people are going to be out of town this weekend. But I'm still trying to figure out my work schedule, so don't count on me to pick dates and times yet, at this point I'm kind of going out at random.
