Problems with heart rate monitor?

When I wear an iPod on my arm, I think my heart rate monitor occasionally freezes. It'll stay at 155 all of a sudden for say 10 seconds and then jump inexplicably to 110 or 170. Or maybe it has nothing to do with the iPod?

I dont have any problem like that when I wear both.

I dont wear the monitor much now as I can accurately gauge my HR w/o it.

I've used both for a while, and never had problems. Although I've never done the ipod on the arm.

I'm guessing you have the watch style? are the iPod and the watch on the same arm? try moving one of them.

Could be the battery in the transmitter is getting old.

are you sweaty enough (the electrodes like to be moist)
is the band loose on the transmitter causing it to loose contact

Hmmm ... I did try switching arms ... it couldn't be the battery cuz it's new, and I tried it without the iPod and things were smooth (except like this one moment, which may have been a fluke)

I definitely remember being extremely annoyed that one second I'd be way above my range, and next second I was below it ... I just don't know ...

What other kinds of heart rate monitors are there besides the write one?

I wear a Timex monitor and have no issues while using it and the ipod.

After trying the iPod and HRM combo again (a few times), I think it may have been coincidental in fact. I think the chest strap occasionally loses contact with my skin cuz I have pectus ...

I think i read somewhere, that you can wear the band backwards (on the back), but put it upside down.
