    Journey: Bangalore to Kolar.

    Distance: 70kms
    Car: Hyundai I20
    Avg Speed: 120km/hr.
    My Top Speed: 135km/hr.
    Time Taken: 35mins.

For a moment, I couldn't believe the speedometer when it pointed at 135.
    Of course, i was alone.
Road was good. Scenery was excellent. Felt incredible inside the car. Enjoyed every moment while driving. At some point I was racing other cars as well. It was fun.
All in all, it was an unbelievable experience. Man!!! I am such a good driver.

I really don't want to be rude, but that's what you call a "long drive"? -.^
That's the time it takes me to get to the next train station.
To get to our gym it takes me about an our with an average speed of 110 km/h

Hey but great you had fun buddy icon_smile.gif

    Uhh... what?

I do a 7 hour drive almost every other week. My record for longest drive was 22 hours from New York to Florida.

    35 minutes ain't nothing. That's barely even a commute to work. icon_lol.gif

Distances are so subjective between each country...

For my last job, I was driving 102 miles (164 km) every day.

Right now I'm living in Denver, which is roughly 400 miles away from home (depending on which way you can take and if there's a snowstorm.) That's 643 km, or 1,286 kilometers round-trip. I do that drive once every two months.

My longest road trip was from Denver to Michigan's Upper Peninsula. That was 1,400 miles one-way (2,253 km) or 4,506 kilometers for the whole trip.

Haha, that's cute icon_smile.gif Congratulations! Maybe seeing how relaxed and easy that was will spur you to head off on bigger and longer trips!

My weekly commute is about 300+ miles twice a week from Cape Cod to New hampshire and back. Takes about 4 1/2 hours each way going 75MPH, but you get used to it and find LOTS Of good music for the iPod!

First ever long drive for me was in my new (used) '67 GTO heading from San Francisco to San Diego with my then b.f. Sunny day, beautiful ocean to our right, hills and trees to our left, stereo cassette player going full blast, getting away from our parents and prying eyes - having a weekend all to ourselves doing what two 20 year old guys want to do. Great memory.

The first half of the distance was on rural highways, across an open mesa and then down through a bunch of canyons near the mountains. Then I had to drive through town, and then out a fairly developed highway with lots of traffic. It took me a full hour to get to work in the morning if the weather was good.

One of my favorite drives is to head out to California's Bay Area via US 50 and central Nevada. It is 1,100 miles and an awesome drive through some unusual country. That is ..er.... 1,770 km. I have done that trip at least half a dozen times.

Sounds like a beautiful drive. An hour isn't bad. I know people who drive an hour and a half every day, and that's in the wee hours of the morning before any real traffic starts.

I don't mind driving, but it feels like a waste of time when you can't get anything else done.

The most awesome places for road trips:

    1) The Americas... pretty much everywhere

    2) South East Asia

    3) Southern Europe

Havent been, but Sub-Saharan Africa and Circum-Arctic Eurasia is said to be great as well

I once drove 150 miles and then took a mile long hay ride just to get a doughnut...

    Does that make me fat?

I used to enjoy road trips, till I started flying. Now my idea of a road trip is "GPS Direct." No stop signs, no slow drivers, no speed limit, and no delays (unless re-routed by ATC, which is rare)...can't get a more peaceful trip than that; and the scenery is in-fucking-credible. icon_biggrin.gif

Road trips are fun. Even though my roadster doesn't have cruise control, lol. I hate having a rental car when I travel so I try and drive as often as possible. I want to drive to Provincetown one year actually, that's about 1600mi (2600km) each way. icon_confused.gif
