A different kind of thread I guess, but what’s your favorite road music – for that empty long desolate highway, whether it is Rio Grande Valley in southwestern Texas, Route 50 in California and Nevada or the wheat fields and empty highways of Saskatchewan and Alberta. I’ll go first with just two and fill in a few more later

Perfect. We didn't have mp3s in those days so 8 tracks had to do the trick. Yes, I'm actually that old.

Not everything I like is around 500 yrs old. It’s just that with us old people, our frame of reference is greatly expanded.

I'll take it back just a bit further with Fleetwood Mac to Then Play On. The beauty of this piece is after the 2:18 mark.

and this one reminds me of the first ELP, but you have to have avery quiet car to make the most of this one

Great thread. Love open road trips, windows down, good music.

"I and Love and You" by the Avett Brothers.

"All My Days" by Alexi Murdoch (a lot of his stuff is good for road trips. "Real Steel" starts out with Hugh Jackman riding through Texas listening to this)

"Los Angeles" by Candlepark Stars (was the perfect song for when I drove through Kansas at sunset with a thunderstorm on the horizon)

+1 This is also my favorite workout music. The cheesier the better. "We Built This City" is terrible, but is my happy song.

Unfortunately, as much as I love windows down driving assuming that it’s an old 2 door hardtop with no ‘B’ pillar, you can’t hear much of what I posted adequately. Much of the stuff I posted requires quiet – very quiet

However, if I’m driving late at night and need some assistance staying wide awake, one of the first three B-52s albums serve quite nicely.

I've done 45 - 50 cross country or cross continent road trips plus a couple to Alaska. Thanks to modern technology, now I can put it all to video. These are all my pics

Thankfully, my BF was fearless when speed is concerned because we rolled pretty well in places in the below. Sadly, we were in Alberta just a few days before peak color.
