As I lay in bed on a STUNNINGLY beautiful Memorial Day here in the NY Metro (after weeks of just constant miserable rain we finally have had a full weekend of beautiful sunshine) watching my puggle decide whether to be sleepy or full of puppy energy/love and cars driving by full of people going to the shore/bar-b-que/etc...I just want to take a moment and send a quick Thank You and reflect on the sacrifice that the members of our armed forces, police and fire departments.

They put THEIR lives on the line every day for people like me who just want to wake up every day knowing that while I have to personally watch my own back, I can be assure that there are hundreds of thousands of others that are doing the same. I mean think there are countries that are in a constant state of upheavel and turmoil - here its a bad day if the Barista at Starbucks mixes up your Skim No Fat Soy Chai Latte with someones elses No Fat Skim Chai Latte.

While memorial day is normally reserved for mourning and tribute - I say that we need to also tribute those living and fighting for our freedom EVERY SINGLE DAY. They are the ones that continue to make a difference.

I want to join LaSalle in thanking that long line of men and women who for hundreds of years have offered a piece or all of their lives to make and keep America a great place to live.

A special and eternal thanks to those guy, living and dead, who covered my back when I needed it in Nam.
