Is this site still about health and fitness?

Over the past 6-12 months I've noticed a change in the in the profiles and people that are joining Real Jock. It use to be a site in which gay/bisexual men focused primarily on health and fitness. Most of the men on the site where interested in learning about these subjects, sharing information and developing friendships and relationships with like minded individuals. Now it seems more and more men are coming onto the site and using it primarily as a forum to hook up. I'd be curious to hear other long users of this site have experienced the same.

While I have never hooked up, I can say that any fitness forum post I put on the fitness portion of this site moves like molasses compared to the other ones. I find that there are individuals out here who dont mind offering information and have helped me grow physically speaking.

I've been here for two years now and it feels no more sexual now than it did when I joined. I even chuckle when I see someone post in the forums about how this is a fitness site, not a hookup site. Maybe these guys aren't getting hit on. Sure, this site offers an opportunity to discuss fitness in a way that most gay sites don't, but I've been getting offers to jerk on cam since I first turned on my RJ IMer back in 2009.

Yeah, I have been on here for close to five years. I remember when RealJock passed out t-shirts and was going to get a membership fee.

The forums have changed to more silly topics, but those seem to be the ones that get the most responses. However, I have learned so much about health and fitness just being on here. I have recently gotten some good advice on taking cardio classes at the gym to try something different. i also have watched the hot debate on the paleo diet. I talked to a guy recently about pilates. There have been discussions about yoga (which I started doing 4 months ago).

All in all, Realjock is what you make of it. Some use it to hookup. Others use it for health and fitness.

This site is free now. So in order to pay the bills, they need to put up ads. And in order to make more people view/click those ads, more guys need to join. So now this site is marketing itself as a "Gay Men and Gay Dating - Chat, Forums, Personals, Fitness, Health, Community, and More" site. Check the front page. It's all there.

And if I recall, the "I'm looking for:" in your profile setup always had the "Hook-Up" option there. So there ya go. icon_wink.gif

I like the accessibility of health and fitness info/suggestions from people on here which is helping me formulate a plan for myself. I'm also impressed that the majority of people on RealJock seem to have been cut from a higher quality cloth than most people found on other sites which is a welcome change.

I'm too much of a noob to know about the "good old days." This site isn't what I expect when I joined. I don't mean that in a good or bad way. I would be nice if the fitness topics didn't get buried so much. On the other hand, there are only so many different ways you can discuss how to bulk up, how to reduce fat, how to change your diet, etc. I'm starting to feel like a broken record.

I haven't seen much of the hook-up stuff either, but maybe I'm just not in those areas.

I wasn't here when the site focused primarily on fitness, but I do agree with the op. I usually have to message people directly to get fitness advice because no one really focuses on the fitness threads.

I have plenty of unanswered questions on the health and fitness boards.... I don't get it when people post messages like these when they could be participating on the parts of the site that were created for health and fitness....
