Its for a job opportunity but i haven't decided if I'm going to take it yet. I love the outdoors and so that aspect is awesome, I'm just worried about the gay scene? From my quick online research, it doesn't really sound like there is much? I'm not just talking bars, but the overall feel of the area towards gay people. Any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ;D

I don't mean to be mean, but aren't you living in Boise right now?

But seriously, a Coastie friend of mine was stationed in Eureka many years ago. His wife was hating life. Pretty much all they did was the occasional outdoorsy thing on the weekends. But rest of the time, internet and satellite TV saved their sanity.

SF isn't too far away. You can probably probably just hop on a plane every other weekend for mini vacations.

Haha, yes I'm in Boise now but you would be surprised at how progressive it is here. Idaho overall, not so much but general attitude in Boise and surrounding towns are much more open. We have 3 gay bars here and the biggest one is the busiest bar in town icon_smile.gif I think that says something.

From what i gather, Redding is quite spread out with lots of farmland... yikes.

    Thanks for the tips fellas.

Well, I wouldn't say it's all pot growers and meth but it is very rural and I doubt you'll find much in the way of 'gay socialization'. You're a couple hours plus north of Sacramento and about 3 1/2 north of SF. close enough for an over nighter but a long drive to a drink in the Castro. You're closer to Chico, which is an area where Chico (aka Party) State University is located. If you're an outgoing or going out type of social person, you might want to look into the move very closely. Weather can be very hot and dry in the summer.

    Good luck.

I loved they gay scene in Boise. I lived there for about a year when I was 18.

    Redding is MUCH smaller...
