I was just wondering, what with HPV now being linked to oral and throat cancers, how many of you actually use a condom for oral sex.

So, do you ever use a condom for oral sex? It doesn't matter if you're giving or receiving. Just answer

    1. never
    2. rarely
    3. sometimes
    4. often
    5. always

I personally never have. I, however, have not been with many people. In fact, only given head to one guy. And he was a someone that I knew very well, knew to be clean, and trusted. Am not sure how I would handle that situation with a complete stranger. I guess you can't be too safe in today's world.

5 (always) with my late poz partner.

1 (never) with my current neg partner, who is tested every few months for all STDs, along with me, by our shared primary physician. She is legally required in writing to reveal all medical results to both of us.

Never, but the only dick that goes in my mouth is that of my partner of 15 years. What risks are we willing to take for unfettered sexual enjoyment? A personal decision. Does anyone like the taste of latex? One of my best friends died from AIDS a number of years ago - the only kind of sex he ever had was giving blow jobs to other guys.

No, it's like sucking on a party balloon. But you can minimize the problem by using non-lubed condoms, and also those without spermicide. And if you're stuck with a lubed spermicidal condom, just wipe it with a damp washcloth before you put his dick in your mouth. Not romantic, I know, but better than gagging, which is what used to happen to me.

The other option is using a non-latex condom. My only concern is that I continue to read conflicting evidence about whether those are sufficiently impermeable against HIV. I read yes, I read maybe. They'll stop a sperm cell OK, but HIV is much, much smaller, and believe it or not, all condoms are just a membrane and will pass material in the micron size range. Latex is the most impermeable material commonly used in condoms, and will block HIV.

flavored condoms are the way to go if this is a "deal breaker" for you and/or him.
