Shaved head with beard. The new faux-hawk?
May 28, 2008 4:23 AM GMT
I was at a party the other week, and saw lots of guys sporting the shaved head with a beard look. Not a goatee, but a full closely trimmed beard. Where it fades from shaved on top to facial hair where the "side-burns" would be.

I kinda decided I was over the look. Gotten too trendy.

Yes? No?

Well... they could've been bear types, yknow.

I like the faux-hawk look. Better yet I like any clean haircuts AND facial hair. LOL

yeah... think that this is definitely a new trend. depending on who is wearing it though, it looks great.

Yeah, baldies with beards are hot, though I prefer the stubble beard. Crew cut or bald with shallow moustache and half beard(no sideburn connection).

Most bald guys shave their heads lol I probably have to shave my whole head few more years, because I am getting bald. I like goatee better than beard....

I used to have a shaved head with moustache and goatee, no sideburns (yuck). Now I shave my head and I am clean shaven. I have never done it to be stylish, I don't have the patience to keep up with "styles." I like the feeling of a shaved head, especially on a hot summmer day when playing sports, it comes in very handy.

It's the situation where ...

The guys you SEE with the shaved heads and beards SHOULDN'T have the shaved heads and beards

S'why nude beaches aren't fun

... and thongs!

WAY better than the faux hawk!

That's basically me. I don't see many other guys sporting the "new faux-hawk" look, here, so I still feel pretty "spashul" and avant garde. Not sure how this look translates, exactly, into the hawk category, though.

I never could get the beard right. To dark and course. Plus, where is the line of demarcation.

i like the beard and bald thing.

I never liked the faux hawk. Since i will occassionally sport a full on mohawk, the faux hawk crowd looked to me like a bunch of non-committal posers... the Avril's of the world had faux hawks.

I was shaved and bearded before it was trendy, I will be shaved and bearded long after the look has become uncool.
Reason: No hair to grow out on top + my salt & pepper beardishness makes my man hot.

It's just genetics, ...and horn-doggishness. A potent combination, indeed.

That said, I think we can all agree that shaved head and no beard -- but wth sideburns (see Shaq from a few years ago - possibly still), looks dumb as hell. It's like having a bridge but no road on either side of it.

[Ruck_us: Isn't there a road like that to nowhere in Alaska?]

I saw a lot of that at IML this year and DAMN!! That's hot!

When I don't shave my face, but shave my head; I look like that guy your mother warned you about. I love that!

I can't wait to see what the guys here in Mpls think of my look.

I liked NIN before they were cool. But then, there's a lot of bands I've liked (and got to see in concert) since before they were cool.

Oh wait...yeah...shaved heads...

I've been rockin' this dome since I was 22 and was going through chemo...my hair was receding anyway, so no sense in fighting it. As for the beard look though, I'll pass...I like my chin strap on me, but not the full beard look.

Hey guys;

I just joined up; and found this site 'cause i was searching this very topic. Good to find such a group of fit, proud, (and some bald! ) gay men.

I've been doing 'bald with beard' for a year and a half. Have had a beard since i was 20; so it's hard to give it up (though i did for a while when I first shaved). But may hair was really thinning so that my previous flattop (then buzz cut) wasn't really working, so for me, bald is really the solution.

Looking forward to getting to know you guys

I've been thinking about doing it, we are a little behind the times here in Oregon, but I just can't figure out where the beard should start when I'm shaving.

experiment ;
the ear transition area is tricky; but in general; I like it if it 'fades' a bit.

also ; you should 'angle' it . not an abrupt horizontal line at top of 'sideburn'. just my opinions.

On the right guy, I love a shaved head with some scruff on the face...it can be really hot.

Sometimes it can be real hot on guys.. Its a simple look to maintain.

I go back and forth on the issue. As someone that does shave my head I sometimes will sport the beard/scruff. I do get e-mails asking if I still have the beard, most seem to like it. I tend to think I look better with scruff then totally clean shaven, but could be wrong, never been good with those things.

I definitely agree that some kind of scruff goes well with a shaved head, I just recently took my mustache off and like the look.

I too noticed this trend and have been seeing this look quite bit around here in LA. I certainly prefer this look over the overly done hair styles of late. Shaved heads are hot (especially with facial hair!).

Been sporting this look for a long time now. I like the look on myself and definitely on other guys. it's simple and clean.

Makes me look a little rougher considering how I am so not the tough type of guy.
