what's the point of this thread? racism and hatred towards a religion? I dont think this should be allowed under RJ's terms of use.

Not racism. Islam is both a religion and a political ideology, not a race.

Islam is responsible for oppression and violence, more so than any other modern religion or spiritual belief. Where are the people who blow themselves up for Jesus? Cthulhu? Buddha? The FSM? in b4 the guy from Norway. Racist ideology drove him to commit his crimes, not religion.

This is proving quite true in the UK, where extremist Islamists are speaking out in greater numbers, calling for the implementation of Sharia law. They are facing backlash, but the fact remains, a lot of Muslims would rather have oppressive, primitive Sharia law than modernize Islam to be humane.

What you do here is lump a lot of people together based on the actions of one sub-group and begin wildly generalizing. This rapidly leads to error, division, and the erosion of social bonds. It's a form of social poison that represents a far greater risk to civilization than the completely improbable imposition of Sharia outside the Middle East.

Not all Muslims are terrorists, however, the religion itself calls for violence against gays. Nowhere in the New Testament or any Eastern spiritual text are such calls made.

Islam oppresses women. Christianity has largely embraced gender equality, and is moving toward acceptance of LGBT people. Islam, however, still makes their women(?) dress like ninjas. Not cool.

Rather than being drawn into a fruitless discussion of the merits of any religion (since I am an atheist I don't favor one over the other) I will simply point out that juvenile name calling does nothing to convince anyone of the value of your position. It's a form of bullying and it completely undercuts any appeal you might try to make to logic.
