I don't understand the need to vilify or wish harm to others because they've done something you don't agree with. Even if he did some bad things, I hope his family is ok.

He viewed you and your relationships as inferior to himself.

He fundamentally opposed your right to be equal.

Human rights are neither a matter of debate nor disagreement... they are inalienable, fundamental and indistinguishable on the basis of sexuality.

I hope his family are ok too but I hope he rots in hell.

I have disdain for politicians in general, but especially for those who play the religious card. They care not of havoc they wreck in lives of others in their quest for power and piety. They are the epitome of evil and so I say it again - may he burn in hell.

Saw this in another article about him. It sounds like he was a crackpot.

"Forrester, a Republican whose district includes parts of Gaston, Iredell and Lincoln counties, was trying to rally support for the amendment.

"The topic of larger cities in North Carolina was briefly discussed and how residents of those areas would vote on the amendment," the report reads. "Forrester mentioned the Charlotte metropolitan area and Chapel Hill. He then called the city of Asheville 'a cesspool of sin' and said if he was a homosexual, he’d 'target' North Carolina to practice homosexual 'mischief' because there is no constitutional law prohibiting it."

The main sponsor of the proposal in the Senate, the report also quotes Forrester as declaring, about LGBT people, that "‘We need to reach out to them and get them to change their lifestyle back to the one we accept."

Call me crazy but this world has enough hate and anger to go around. If someone hates you, I don't see how it is productive to hate back. Your anger will not harm those who despise you (they don't even know you exist), but it will consume you and cause you emotional anguish because you'll constantly be thinking about how much you despise that person back. A waste of energy and effort in my opinion.

If someone like him does things to affect other people's lives (like introducing a bill to curtail your own freedoms), then what people should do is engage them in the political process and fight back, exactly the way many organizations are doing to stop the bill. Who is to say that bill will even pass in NC? And even if it does, once gay marriage becomes legal at the federal level the NC amendment will not even matter anymore (assuming it will pass, which it may very well not).

Sometimes is takes time to change people's minds, but rational minds do come around eventually. I'm pretty sure gay marriage will become legal pretty soon. It's only a matter of time. I'm perfectly fine letting those who want to spend time and energy hating others to be wrapped up in their own selfish little worlds. I can understand why you are upset at someone like him, but I don't see how wishing anyone or their families ill resolves anything.

Just my two cents. I respect everyone's opinion on the matter even if I may not understand it.

NewRal, I appreciate your points about compassion, even for those who declare us, Gays, their enemies.

    But when you write:

"Who is to say that bill will even pass in NC?
And even if it does, once gay marriage becomes legal at the federal level the NC amendment will not even matter anymore. "

"ONCE GAY MARRIAGE BECOMES LEGAL AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL" !!!

THIS is our problem. Republicans, like the state senator, are fighting even harder against marriage equality at the federal level.

So NO we don't have the option of being passive against these assaults on the state level.

May this particular disturbed individual Rest in Peace.......

and remind us to FIGHT LIKE HELL !

Interesting. To each his own. From my perspective, any politician willing to play the religious card for political gain with total disregard to the pain and suffering they cast on others deserves to go to hell. Guess we have to agree to disagree...

I was going to ask is this a good thing or a bad thing?
He cant help pass it now, but are we celebrating a person's death?

I'm not celebrating anyone's death. Just because this man doesn't have an opinion that lands on the side of gay people doesn't justify wishing him dead, rejoicing in his death, or hoping he burns in hell. Gays who react in this manner can justify it all they want in their own minds but it is still wrong. It speaks volumes of their own lack of character.

    +1!!!

It's great that he is gone.
This is not a simple matter of people being happy someone is dead. It's really not that simplistic.
He was someone whom had led the charge of anti-gay everything for years. He used religion as his tool of fear and hate to rally all of his other moronic followers.
People like him who used his position to keep we Gays, or anyone's existance, down or denied in all aspects of life deserve to be gone from his position and this world.
Had he been an outward racist? People all over would have been singing praises to their poof-of-smoke up there that they call their god that this hate monger was gone. Well it's the exact same thing.
We as Gay people are far better off with him gone. So is the rest of the country. There should be no tolerance of bigotry of any kind held by an elected official by WE the people. He obviously was not being voted out of office for his disgusting views. Now Nature voted him out of life! icon_cool.gif

My friend you have no idea of my character. I call a spade a spade and I call evil for what it is. When opinion is put into action to the detriment of others, with complete disregard to one's suffering, that speaks to character, or lack there of. Again we will simply agree to disagree.
