Best time of day to work out..

I normally like to work out first thing in the morning. However, as it turns colder, I think I might want to move my workouts to the afternoon - because I just don't want to get out in the cold at 5:30 in the morning. I can go to the gym in the afternoon after it warms up. Plus, in January, my teaching schedule will have me teach 8:00 am classes - which means working out in the morning would get earlier.

Which leads me to my question. When is the best time of day to work out???

Will there be any negative effects to changing my normal routine from morning to afternoon??

    Thanks for your advice.

Only impact I can think of is energy level, personally I'm a morning gym person, have more energy and my workouts are better than if I went in the afternoon after work, when I'm dead to the world.

    Morning, afternoon or evening gymer?

That's how I am, but schedule-wise it might be better. I am also hoping that an evening workout my re-energize me. I think I'm going to give it a try for a bit and see what happens... I may switch it back.

Anyways...I just go whenever the spirit moves me during the day. I'll usually try to go before morning lectures, but if I don't get in by that time, I'll just go in later when I can. Lucky our rec center stays open until midnight.

I'm not a morning person, so I work out in the afternoons after work. I prefer around the time it's still daylight but the sun's heat isn't as hot anymore. Best time to run.

Sadly I am a evening workout. I try to be a morning workout guy especially since I work 2nd shift but I just can't get the haze away quickly. I do find that I still have energy for the evening workout. Also tires me out so I sleep like a rock.

Best time of day is when ever your schedule allows it. Also, when your body tells you when is the right time.

Workouts are individual. There are no cookie cutter workouts. What works for one person, will not work for another.

Find your time which suits you and go for it.

I tend to do better with weights in the afternoon or early evening..... but I do a morning cardio set and I do mess with my barbells and other weights as a part of it and do fine. I agree with some of whats said above.... whenever you can get it done and in your schedule.
