Thank the spaghetti monster that its a "non binding" measure..

and a total waste of time at that!

Thanks Repubs... nothing but wasting time!

Where's those 'JOBS' at? How come the economy isnt being 'fixed'? There isnt any bills being passed on either of those two fronts.. not a damn thing.

    Well?

What's wrong with the "In God We Trust" motto? It's part of our culture and history, whether one precisely believes in God or not. "In God We Trust" doesn't have to exist along side: "let's call gay people sinful".

Except that it does, in the minds of these Republicans who pushed for this.

And BTW, whose God? The Jewish? The Muslim? The Hindu? How about Atheists. This "God" they're selling is strictly Christian Fundamentalist. And don't try to pretend or prevaricate otherwise. This "God" is entirely exclusionary, and not a bit American at all.

That wasn't the point being made.

Our real motto should be E Pluribus Unum.

In God We Trust should not be a motto. And because Florida is stupid, it is also the state motto of Florida.icon_rolleyes.gif

What God? where? Why is our country still fixated on believing in some ancient fairy tale known as a supreme being. The US is the only prosperous, first world country that continues to be influenced and poisoned by religion.

In god we trust was only brought in in the 1950s as part of the anti-communism crap. It´s nothing more than a panic response.

I'd be willing to bet that the reason this came up was over some Islamophobes, TBaggers, Fundamentalists and left over Birthers, who were worrying about Obama's Islamist background and supposed Islamists connections. So they feared Sharia Law taking over the country, then they were really overwelmed with the thought of this being top priority for us to restate our connection to the Christian god, lest they miss that blessing that's promised in the black book.

Who cannot see the urgency and importance to this right now with the predicted end time Armageddon at hand in the Middle East, we really must state on whose side we belong as a nation. SHEESH !!! GQ you should know these things !!! LOL !!!

He's a diehard republican that is now seeing them (the repubs and the games) destroy HIS small business.

It wont take too much longer.. they're figuring it out now.

Yes, we pay them hundreds of thousands of dollars every year to waste time and play games, ignoring our country's problems.

LOL. "Under God" in the pledge of allegiance was only added in 1954 as well.

1892- "I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

1923 - "I pledge allegiance to my Flag of the United States and the Republic for which it stands, one nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

1942 - "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."

And apparently this only happened because Eisenhower had recently been baptized Presbyterian and heard a particularly moving sermon.

Fun fact! The pledge of allegiance once used the Bellamy Salute. We don't do it anymore, because of its similarity to the Nazi salute.
