On business so this is not a typical "what tourist trap junk should I see" -- what are the interesting after-hours things to do? Like 10pm to 4am on weeknights. When I was in Denver last month it was hard to find stuff in an impromptu manner, so at least I am inquiring in advance of boarding the plane and turning on Grindr when we land at LAX.

Where are the decent 24 hour eateries?
What bars/pubs are worth checking out?
Any cultural events like a young professionals night out at the museums that I can score an invite to as a +1?
    Hookah bars/lounges?
    Other things?

Zip code/neighborhood/distance requirements are not so important since I will have a company car and traffic shouldn't be too crazy that late.

I am working all day every day I am there. I literally have no discretionary time until about 10pm each night ... and based on Denver I do not need to be too highly functioning at 8am, I just need to find a Starbucks nearby in the morning where ever I end up icon_lol.gif

Pretty much anything out of Los Angeles center closes at 9-10pm which includes all the beach cities and suburbs. My guess is you would like Farmers market/The Grove, 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica, Little Tokyo for late night ramen, Beverly Center area / Weho., Fairfax district. Check out Yelp. Grindr I've found is very much for White Guys here. When I'm in LA I get hispanics and blacks emailing me.

If you ever get back to Denver and you are looking for a city buzz after 10pm on weeknights, check out St. Mark's and the Thin Man, on 17th and Race.

For early am eats, check out the Denver Diner on Speer and Colfax and also Jerusalem's, down on Evans near D.U.

The Wynkoop Brewery on 18th street downtown is also a great place for weeknights. Weekends are way too crazy.

I failed in Denver, I never heard about any of this stuff when I was there icon_sad.gif

Thank you for the suggestions though. I really enjoyed Denver and I will be back for certain.

There are Denny's everywhere. All dennys are 24/7

Mel's Drive Thru, restaurant is also a diner that is 24/7 in hollywood and in Sherman oaks,

Jerry's Deli, most of them are 24/7 as well.

Various fast food restaurants are open.

If you're looking for clubs that are open, try the hollywood and west hollywood area...

If you're wanting to know about specific things, you should be specific as to when you'll be here, there are karaoke nights, hookah nights, latino nights, etc at various different venues.

If you are looking for places that stay up late, your best bet is in Hollywood, and West Hollywood.

Also, Pho, a cool Thai or Viatnemese place (Can't remember which it is) has really really good food at any hour. They are 24/7 at all their locations.

I live in Studio City, but work in Beverly Hills, Brentwood, and pretty much drive and freelance all around the hill area, couldn't tell you as much about West LA or Downtown.

Just a matter of figuring out where exactly you'll be staying near.

Mind you.. LA is a big wide, long city. You're looking at about 30 miles West/East and about 50 miles North/South...

So, keep in mind you should rent a vehicle.

denny's? really? gross... you want real feedback, please listen !

25 degrees and amazing little diner like restaurant in the roosevelt hotel (hollywood blvd) which is frequented by celebrities after the clubs close.

a great hole in the wall bar (straight mix) in hollywood called woods.
and the federal (great drinks and tapas) in noho arts. its an up and coming hipstar.artsy area of la. lots to do!

the roosevelt has a nice deck pool bar which is fun during the summer.

in the valley- do visit Black market bar (good beers).

farmer's market for lunch! its definitely a los angeles gem.

daytime- go to runyon canyon and "hike" see the city from the hills (ahem, and the shirtless guys).

the library bar for drinks and tappas.

rock n fish (Manhattan beach) for great food and a good drink. Get there too late and you might have to wait a couple hours to eat. However, you can take a stroll on the pier while you wait.

abbot kinney (not a rest but a street). its what we like to call, the people's republic of venice! its a mile of restaurants and bars for the rich hippie/hipster. def a place to see. lots of art, mom and pop shops, great food and close to the "boardwalk".

go to the hollywood cemetery for a cute date: fun place to watch a movie in the open (: http://www.cinespia.org/calendar/

if you want to do the gay thing:

the abbey is a tourist trap fool of every non-la person mixed in with midwest straight douches (hate the place but thats my preference... i would avoid it on a weekend due to the fact that you'll spend a few hrs looking for a decent waiter to serve you).

motherlode- fun on a tuesday/thursday or weekend. normally has good music. definitely a dive bar. Normally frequented by the 30+, large cheap drinks. However, I wouldn't go there if you're looking for a good drink. Now, if you're looking for a strong drink that will get you buzzing in a few seconds... that's your place.

St. felix is the gay's is quaint, clean pit stop while promenading the blvd.

rage- just stay away from there. Unless you're 18 and an asian guy from west covina, there is no reason to be there. It's dated, dark and would remind you of a scene from queer as folk (things that make you go ugh)

fiesta cantina- for the 21-25 yo who either is strapped for cash, has friends who are strapped for cash or an older guy wanting to feel what it would be like to be at a high school gay party.

micky's- eh, i feel it is what a typical gay bar looks like anywhere. nothing special, nothing worth writing about.

here lounge- hit or miss, on wednesday, get there around 11 before the guys go home. it is the mid 20's-30's crowd.

eleven-another bar to avoid. a bad drink, over priced, who the hell charges

for admission? i guess you would if your crowd consisted of a circus act getting their drink on.

gymbar- same as the gym bar in nyc... a gay sports bar. normally dead after 12.

fubar-must see the thing on a thursday. its the twilight zone. great eclectic music, the crowd (well honestly, who cares, you can barely see people in that hole in the wall). its kink meets hipster. def a page out of the lse.

whatever you do, doooo not go to jerry's deli. that crap is horrible, over priced and is a death trap! but by all means go there if you are too drunk to drive and need a quick bite to eat while you sober up.

the pho the kid is talking about is called pho city. however, there are a million and one better places to get pho in la like Gyu-Kaku in sherman oaks. Or pretty much any place in little tokyo!

stay away from karaoke bars in weho, particularly fiesta cantina. you'll thank me! as for the hookah night he is mentioning, he's talking about club nur which is out in the bfe. meaning, you pay to get in, its on thursdays at a bar in silverlake called mj's. the drinks suck but are cheap. lets just say they will look at you like you're crazy if you dare try ordering anything that isnt a softdrink/vodka drink. oh, and if you're drunk, you're done... it will take you too long to get anywhere else. also, the place is pretty much dead!

stay away from sunset unless youre going for dinner. sunset (the strip) is over-priced and a tourist death trap.

do go to canter's deli for some katz deli like food (love me the lse) minus the big black guy at the door making sure you pay your bill.

if you want a regular hookah lounge, just go to gypsie cafe in westwood. its where all the persians go. if you want amazing persian food, go to shamshiri grill (: Westwood is a tough place to go to though because of parking.

    a great veggie dinner:

    brentwood: A Votre Sante

hermosa beach: the spot (this place is amazing). its out of this world!

    redondo beach: the green temple

el segundo and in west hollywood: the veggie grill

oh! sushi dan is in the same place as the veggie grill on sunset. its a greak place to eat if your drunk and have nowhere to go! although most gay just stick to the blvd when they are drunk and get food at pizza rustica or the village pizza. or that pho citi place which should be called what the phoK am i eating?
