Doc says I have sinus infection plus both ears are infected.....sore throat, occasional vertigo, headache, general malaise.

But on the positive side, I'm AT HOME.
    Yay.

...Can't just sit around in my underwear all day looking at RJ.
What do you guys do to pamper yourselves when recuperating?

I think I'll get some organic-cage free chicken thighs and some veggies....make some hot brothy soup....right after I find some pants.
Sucks that I have to actually do it, but them's the beaks when you live alone.

I hope you feel better. I get sinus infections too, they suck! I think you should masturbate.

Getting sick, while it definitely sucks, is a good opportunity just to rest. I try to keep my core and feet nice and toasty and drink lots of fluids, usually herbal tea, and settle onto the sofa with a good book or a movie.

I'm surprised someone hasn't found and shared an animated gif of "The Todd" from Scrubs for this.
    High Five!
Oh yeah, not easy to do when your sinuses are ahead of you in getting fscked.

In all seriousness. Antihistamines/decongestants are your friend. You don't want that crap going into your throat and chest. Then you'll need Mucinex to get it back out...

After using a gym too close to a teaching hospital down in San Diego for two years (duh?), I learned to get a prescription bottle of cold medicine with codeine. Use it sparingly and it might last an entire season.

Better yet, use extra care on your next gym visit and try not to share this infection with others.

I Googled "Is a sinus infection contagious"....when you type in only the letters "Is a"
Googles suggests "Is Anderson Cooper gay?"
    Funny.

Oh yeah, Google results suggest I'm not contagious. Woot

I'm definitely not a doctor. But, how did you get it in the first place?

Its too easy for me to assume mine came from someone not washing their hands. icon_rolleyes.gif

I guess if you jammed a digit up your nose and wiggled it around in your sinuses you could infect them. icon_lol.gif
But you're preachin' to the choir, bud.
I have sanitizer at my desk and in my car.
(I just read a gas pump nozzle is the filthiest thing you'll regularly encounter.)
There's a guy in my office w/ a cold and he wants to shake hands every time he sees me. Makes me want to pop him in the face.

    Sorry. Sorry....that's the sick talking.

I feel the same way about handshakes.

Mom, as a former med tech, strongly encouraged me to politely decline if one of us might be sick. Most of the time, it isn't a business/job interview. Be picky.

The other thing about being sick...going to the doctors office and picking up a bonus sick. I think the worse thing you can do is read any paper materials they leave out.

Had to do an FAA drug/physical for this job and had to delay my start date to fully recover.

    Ick.

I once had an inner ear infection. I was falling down all over the place, no sense of balance, like I was drunk (no nasty comments, please).

The US Air Force docs (where I was being treated) gave me some antibiotics. A day or so later I was back to normal. Hope you are soon, recuperating at home.

What a wonderful world in which we live. You get sick, it gets cured most times. I just got cancer, and it's gonna be cured, too. See your doc regularly, and chances are you'll die of old age, and nothing else, as we all must. A fair deal, as it see it. icon_biggrin.gif

Which reminds me. Use caution at grocery stores and drug stores.

If I had a dollar for every time I had to restock the fridge or get more drugs when I was contagious, I'd have a copay. B-)

    Same here.

I catch up on my Netflix queue when I'm down for the count. I watch movies that I know I won't get anyone else to watch with me.

    * coughs up a golf ball of phlegm *

    * stares at it, absent mindedly *

    ...

    Wha?

I get these a lot, and glad you are home and taking in easy, best way to cure it. I have sometimes got some prescription stuff, corticosteroids, and they do help. When I first got a prescription, I thought, "Wow, Roids! Now I can really put on some muscle!" LOL, not that kind of steroids.
I make some rice and eat it hot with milk ans sugar or Equal. Also make Constant Comment tea and put a little whiskey in it. I may not feel better, but I don't give a damn!

@BlackLab: still need to follow your advice. Hoping it helps.

@NC3Athlete: keeping warm can actually be fun...esp when you're having convulsive shivvering. ;-)

@Robert: I've got more supplies than a demented hamster so no need to go out again. Thanks for the kind words on PM.

@Art Deco: thnx for the well wishes and really glad to read about your cure! RE: vertigo, I sneezed so hard today I nearly fell off my chair.

@IguanaSF: Good idea. Love the cowboy hat, btw. Hey, I blew some stuff out of my nose today that should be declared toxic waste. Yech.

@Antelope: I may try some hot cider w/ any kind of amendment I can find...even if it's just natural vanilla.

@Stratavos: sorry to hear you're simultaneously suffering, but misery luvs company, ya know? I'm gonna take a hot shower now...let the pampering begin.
