Who do you think has one?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sockpuppet_%28Internet%29A sockpuppet is an online identity used for purposes of deception. The term—a reference to the manipulation of a simple hand puppet made from a sock—originally referred to a false identity assumed by a member of an internet community who spoke to, or about, himself while pretending to be another person.[1] The term now includes other uses of misleading online identities, such as those created to praise, defend or support a third party or organization.[2] A significant difference between the use of a pseudonym[3] and the creation of a sockpuppet is that the sockpuppet poses as a independent third-party unaffiliated with the puppeteer.

    Signs of sock accounts:

    1. No picture
    2. No stats
    3. Few posts (<100)
    4. Posts only on political threads
    5. Posts usually appear shortly after their puppeteer
    6. Trolling behavior, especially this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sockpuppet_%28Internet%29A strawman sockpuppet is a false flag pseudonym created to make a particular point of view look foolish or unwholesome in order to generate negative sentiment against it. Strawman sockpuppets typically behave in an unintelligent, uninformed, or bigoted manner and advance "straw man" arguments that their puppeteers can easily refute. The intended effect is to discredit more rational arguments made in behalf of the same position. [23]

    7. Posts usually stop coming after a specific time (e.g. when the sock puppet's viewpoint is no longer relevant or newsworthy)

    8. Using similar verbiage or ways of speaking. If you spend a lot of times in the forums, you can pick up everyone's style of writing. And their past life experiences. Sometimes the sock accounts slip up and reveal bits of personal anecdotes from their real account. icon_lol.gif

Sock accounts are rather petty - if you can't prove your point with a rational argument, maybe you should take a gander at compromise?

Compromise? You fuckwit... Sock accounts allow for brilliant people to shun the retards without fear of tarnishing their reputation. If you can't beat em, hide in the bushes and throw rocks at em!

Wait, am I doing this right?

I had one on Enix when it was it's own company, but I haven't done that since... People did help out with what to do next at points where I got stuck in some games though and that was nice icon_biggrin.gif

    Sock-puppets? I'll show you "sock-puppets." There's a reason I'm called the Muppet Maker.

Im pretty sure Edward uses sock accounts. Many times when he posts an opinion, a mysterious new poster with 1 or 2 posts will come in and praise him randomly, or defend him, calling him an angel and such when he is attacked.

I mean, you can be less obvious than that...

I think SouthBeach is the only real member of RJ and EVERYONE else is a sock account of his.

It's like the Gay Twilight Zone.

What's the point of having a sock account? So you can hot list yourself. Only the mentally-challenged do that. Anyways...I don't see the point or benefit of having a sock account. If I want to say something to someone, I will say it straightforward with this account.
