    Hey guys -

So...I just moved to a new city about 6 weeks ago and told myself that I wanted to get "serious" with my gym workouts. I now go to the gym 6 days a week and thanks to my brother...was shown a great workout routine.

I'm going on my 4th week with this new routine of mine...however...as time has gone on...I find myself already getting a little bored with my routine and haven't been able to increase my weight with my repetitions yet...It's almost like my motivation is slowly starting to die out day to day...

    Any suggestions ?

    Hey there,

Have you been on the exact same routine for 6 weeks? If so, change it up! Add in some drop sets, supersets, high volume training, or low volume, high weight training! You've got to change things up to keep your body and yourself interested/changing.

6 days a week sounds like you could be venturing into the land of overtraining... hence the lack of strength/muscle gains. What does your split look like?

I train best, and recommend training, based on goal setting. If there's a particular weight you want to be able to lift, train with that goal in mind. If there are places you want to add or lose inches from, train with that in mind... anytime you have a goal, you'll be MUCH more successful at meeting that goal and keeping your head in the game.

    Best of luck, man!

You have no shirtless pics. There's only one reason a guy wouldn't post shirtless pics on RJ...he has no abs. So, for motivation, remind yourself that you'll continue to have no shirtless pictures online until you workout for a few months and have abs.

Seconding the suggestions given by natertots...

    Change Your Lifting Routine
As part of the change, pick one muscle group you're gonna give priority for the next six weeks. Example: bicep & tricep. You'll still work full body, but you'll give extra focus to the arms. Work 'em first? Use supersets? Run the rack? You decide!

    Change Your Lifting Routine
As part of the change, cut back to lifting just four times weekly. Extra recovery time might allow you to lift heavier - and maybe you're ready for that kind of ego boost.

    Change Your Eating Routine
Force your body's metabolism to adjust itself. For the next six weeks, add 500 high-quality calories to your day - every day. Measured in cookies, thats about 10 - and I'm kind of ashamed I know that.

Not in the mood to gain a-pound-a-week? Then cut 500 calories from your day. Either way, your body's metabolism will be forced to adjust.

Regardless of what you try, I'm asking you to post in the forum again. Pay it forward to the next guy goin' through this - letting him know what worked for you.

1- Cut it down to 4 days per week. Enjoy the other three days in other ways.
2- Work out seriously on each of those four days (different muscle groups). Change the exercises every couple of months if you don't see progress.
3- Eat appropriately, making sure you're giving your body the food and water it needs to both maintain itself and support muscle growth.
4- Get enough sleep- that's when the body repairs itself (= muscle grows).

Thanks guys for all of your advice....HA ! Well...as far as the abs go....not quite there yet...so far I have a 2-Pac...but am working on those and will one day have a shirtless pic on my profile icon_biggrin.gif

I think I will take a couple of your guys advice and cut back to working out 4 days a week and not 6 days...I think I will also focus on a couple of areas specifically but of course still work on the entire body...

    Thanks All !

Yeah all that advice was nice, but, is the gym time working. If it is, you wil be hotter from working out and more attractive than if you sat at home playing video games, alone. Those gay controllers come with two consoles for a reason. There should be a hot guy who loves to fuck you on the other one.
