A wild scene unfolded in a South Carolina courtroom on Thursday when two former lovers became hysterical after receiving a pair of life sentences for the murder of a three-year-old girl.

I'd say something witty, or something about them deserving it... but I don't know what happened...

Watching this definitely made it difficult to breathe...
They have nothing to lose, definitely a lot of real emotion excaping in those screams icon_confused.gif

It's actually kinda ironic, I hadn't made it to her panic attack when I posted that... Just the screams... I found myself short of breath thinking about the idea of life in prison.

Do you think the fact that they were gay had anything to do with them being given the sentence of life?

Do you have more context? Right now it would be speculation.

Wow.....I could feel the emotion in my gut whilst watching this. Imagining myself in that same hypothetical position, being told I would receive a life (which means LIFE, not 25 years as it does in some places) sentence...Damn icon_eek.gif

I wonder what the full case details are though; from what I can gather from the judgement, if it seemingly was death by neglect, if so, would fall under a degree of manslaughter under US/particular state legislature, I would expect... icon_question.gif

Hmmm i'll do some digging on the case.

Sidenote: I also thought this would be stellar material for an actor to use in preparation for a character in despair or evoking horrid emotions in general. Just sayin'

EDIT: Ughhh, found out the extent of the charges, despicable. Punishment fits the crime. Surely they were expecting this outcome... urghhhhhh

police discovered the toddler covered in cuts and bruises, the Charleston Post and Courrier reports

They beat the little girl for days until her fragile, bruised and swollen body finally gave up -- but the two women showed shock when a judge demanded the rest of their lives in return.

Butts admitted to Summerville police on Nov. 3 that she whipped the girl with a belt for urinating on the floor

Circuit Judge Deadra Jefferson said the photos of Serenity's injuries showed a child "systematically beaten to death."

Then my answer is no. It had nothing to do with their sexuality, but their lack of humanity.

What they did was wrong and they deserve what they got. I think the court could have handled the situation alot better then what I see in the video...very sad.

My first thought was that it was a coordinated thing by the both of them and that they were putting on quite a performance. I think they were faking the whole thing. These women were convicted of killing a 3 year old girl. They got what they deserved.

Fuck those two bitches....I hope they rot and get raped daily. They killed an innocent child. That is one thing in prison no one likes anyone who hurt children....so I hope they get tortured and never ever see each other again.

In this case its a fair trade. They basically took an innocent life so what did they expect from the judge, leniency?

    These women are so dramatic.

How could you beat a 3 year old to death? They got what they deserved.

The going sentence for hetero christians who kill their kids is 6 years, prolly 2 actually served.

In some states, you get off completely with the magic words; "GAWD tole me to kill the lil' fucker"

Child molesters/ beaters/murderers, regardless of gender, color, or sexuality have absolutely NO sympathy from me as to the severity of sentence up to and including death. Period.

Is the fact that they're gay supposed to make me think their crime is less ghoulish and deserving of the full wrath of the state?

No sympathy from me. Their sexual orientation has no grounds on their action. What they did was just wrong regardless of if they were str8, gay, bi or "try".

It's cheaper to buy a bullet and place them up against a wall with a hole already dug.
