    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-2058921/19st-rugby-player-Chris-Birch-stroke-gym-accident-wakes-gay.html

Before the accident, Chris worked in a bank, but after he woke up a big old friend of Dorothy, he quit his job and went back to school to become a hairdresser, of course. Naturally he dumped his girlfriend and picked up a 19 year-old twink at a club and his now living with his man above the hair salon. Obviously.

and now the homophobes can say "Look! See, they're not really born that way. It's all a mental disorder."icon_rolleyes.gif

Maybe he's a liar seeking attention and was already gay....or maybe it is a delusion with no actual sexual attraction beyond the attraction he believes to be real....

Unlikely. Strokes happen all the time... All manner of brain injury. Why isn't this well documented? Could this maybe be for LOLZ?

Strokes and other forms of brain injury can change a number of different personality traits this part is true however it has never been proven to or documented to ever change ones sexual orintantion. As stated in the article there is a possibility that he may have not come to terms with it prior to the accident and the brain injury may have made it easier to accept and be how he always was, I am paraphrasing but that was the snitbit I got form part of the article. Neurology is a difficult thing to fully understand and there is still a lot of the brian that he still dont understand. There are parts of the brain that depict and control attractions which means that some of the things that make same-sex attraction happen are located in the brain primarily in the pleasure centers, just as it is for heterosexuals, this does not make it a mental disorder it is just how the brain is wired in those with samesex attractions. I feel that this makes up for 65% of the reason for people being gay but there are alos other areas in the brain that hold personality factors in which hold the other parts that make it. Things such as sexuality are far to complex to simpliy it by saying there just on gene or one area of the brain that leads to homosexuality, heterosexuality or anything in between. As stated by Dr. Kensy many years ago sexuality is more complex than just gay or straight when in reality there are a number of of different variations in between. Personally I think that the "answers" if you really need them for causation of sexuality lies in nurology, biology, sociology, and psychology there are a number of different factors in each one that make up parts of our sexuality. Just some food for thought

The brain controls every aspect of our lives. It makes perfect sense that his sexual orientation could be fundamentally altered. But that would assume that any one area of the brain controls sexual orientation. I suspect its more like his impulsiveness and some latent homosexuality is finding it easier to emerge. This guy didn't just become gay, he became stereotypically gay. So, its possible this is not so much a change in sexual orientation as sexual confusion brought on by his brain injury.

It doesn't mean homosexuality is sexual confusion or a mental disorder. I think if any of us talked with him at length we would still find him a bit odd and not how we think of most gay people.

2 cents worth.. my work partner & i transported a patient from one hospital to another.. find out from his wife that English was his first language and later learned Spanish.

After a tumor was removed from his brain, Spanish was what he prefered to speak even though he could still speak english..

reality can be stranger than fiction

I've heard and read of people coming out of coma's speaking other languages, having different names, different memories, being other people.. not once but in several places

So yes, this is possible.. just because science does not understand certain things.. does not mean they do not exist...

Read the article. He had a stroke after failing a backflip and breaking his neck. There are definitely easier ways to come out. Lol.

There was a well documented case of a homosexual man suffering a massive stroke and becoming heterosexual. It is in many medical journals, that I have come across in my studies. His change was also accompanied by changes in personality traits as well. here is a website with the case study.

but if he's so gay, why is he photographing with a power tool?

    look again, it's actually a blow-drier.

Anyways, interesting to read, and there are a lot of components in the human brain, so... *shrug* maybe his latent attraction kicked in, a lot of the population is actually bisexual, but society says "hetero is best" so go figure icon_rolleyes.gif
