I'm a total BMW junkie. . .and I love the 3-series, but I'm super disappointed with the styling for the next-generation. . .any other BMW fans have an opinion?

Haven't seen anything yet on what the coupe, or the M3 will look like, but hopefully better. . .

omg I totally agree. They were doing SO WELL and then..................

As far as looks go, mercedes kicked their ass hardcore in this round.....for the first time in history.

The new 3 series is really really ugly. Just erase it and start over, especially those headlights....wtf were they thinking?...

I definitely feel like they had to change up the styling. . .the previous generation was starting to fall flat compared to the new comparable Merc (the C-350 sport sedan is a fucking sexy car) and Audi (the a5 is also incredibly sexy). . .but they TOTALLY went wrong.

I think they tried too hard to make it a scaled down 5-series, like the 5 is a scaled down 7. It used to be that they made many sizes of the same sausage (think 90's), and I think that's the goal here.

The front-end is just too squinty-eyed for my taste. It's better than the "angry birds of prey" that they've been doing for the past decade, though. Just not the best that BMW has done.

Unfortunately the only one it looks good on is the 7 . . . .they ONLY could have gone up from the previous styling on that though, that car was the biggest eye-sore for like ten years.

You are right about that! The 7 has been seriously awkward looking, but it was also a best seller. Go figure.

They have resolved most of the issues with the new 6-series styling too.

I can't figure out why they made the pop-up display on the dashboard. It looks like a total afterthought.

Haha, it's definitely better but I've never liked the 6-series, it's too elongated and it looks like a penis.

Yeah, I think they ripped that off of Audi. . .I'm pretty sure Audi has been doing the pop up display for a while, and it seems especially pointless since BMW has been heavily developing their head-up display system.

I guess I'm going to be the lone voice of dissent here. I like the early 2000s styling of the 3 series. But then from about 2005 to 2010 I didn't like it. I actually really like this new style. It looks aggressive and forward thinking.

And I'm in the market for a new BMW. icon_razz.gif

the picture you posted is not the 2011 3series, its the 2009, notice the kidney grills and headlight

    Here's the 2011

    Capture-9.jpg

and for the 2012, big improvement on the interior, they changed the headlight to give it an edgier look, I'm sure it will grow on us. Beside those pictures are the M3, maybe the regular 3series will have a slightly different headlight/front bumper design

Lol, I wish I were in the market for a new car, but I'm content with my 335. . .I'd gladly, GLADLY trade it in for a new Audi a5 though haha, get that so I can live vicariously through you.

Only the interior pictures are of an M3, go to Motortrends first look at it and there are tons of photos, I just chose two at random.

Well considering the c 'class' is trash and looks like a cross between an accord and a camry (bad bad choices to copy), and the vw a4 passes for an overpriced jetta, and a boring one at that, I'd take a '13 M sport 335i any day of the week.

Cars just dont photo well these days. Ever poster thats seen the F30 in person says it looks great. Certainly couldnt look any worse than its german competition or bland jap competitors.

if you dont like the new 3series, skip it and get the current 5series. That piece of shit is timeless design, in 10 years still look damn good.

Yeah, the C-Class is a low-end Merc. . .but style-wise it is a huge imrpovement over previous generations, it looks aggressive and mean - especially the coupe.

I feel like the 2011 3-series got too soft. I never liked the lines. Seemed like a Barbie car to me. The lines were too curved and soft. I like the pictures of the new 3-series. They seem sharper so I'm looking forward to seeing it in person.

The c class wasn't styled to compete with ANY of the cars you mentioned, you need to travel outside of NA a bit more

Totally disagree, it looks like they modeled after Jag's, which is not a good thing. . .they used the classic Jag hood-lines.

The c coupe is an even worse offender; park it next to an accord coupe and honda will blush with flattery from imitation.

But thats no surprise, mb always copies, but no one looks past the stupid star so they get away with it.

All right - that's fantastic that you feel that way, but copy or not - if you really think that this is any better than I have no idea what crack you're smoking.
    2006mercedesbenzcclass2.jpg

And on that note - the lines aren't really that different, updated and more aggressive, but that c-class body was around before the new Accord was released so. . .
