Word is that Joe Paterno will retire at the end of the season. Your thoughts please.

I read this article that was posted in another forum somewhere else which said do you think he should have been fired or charged?

My read on it is....none of the above. However, I don't understand the announcement of retiring at the end of the season. Sort of like, "yeah this stuff is all wrong....and let me just finish out this season and I will be on my way".

In my humble opinion- if you knew anything about this and didn't do everything possible to stop it......step down now....and make a statement that child molestation and abuse is more important than "finishing out the season". I don't think...given the laws of the land right or wrong that he should be charged. But I do think the laws should be changed so if something like that happens again a person like Paterno would be charged.

Am I wrong here? That is what I am thinking....but I am more curious about what YOU think....

From what I have read, and I don't follow the foot ball, but Joe never saw anything himself. He was either the 3rd of 4th in a line of people reporting it to everyone but the police.
Sounds like a witch hunt and I hope Joe stands his ground, finishes his season, wins what they need to and he can give them all the finger on the way out.

Yes I agree! Go to the original thread. I must have missed it in my search before I started this one!
