...'cos they can become so competitive! WTF!
Just this afternoon my friends (all Brits) and I were playing volleyball on the beach, but since we were less than 12 players, we let some outsiders (American Navy, I later found out) join us. Then all of a sudden we noticed that these guys were so serious about winning!!! I mean here we are, my mates and I, chilling out with some laughter-infused game and then these outsiders were getting a bit annoyed when we were just goofing around and shit. HELLO!!! Is FUN in your vocabs, gentlemen???
Have you always been like this you dang Yankees? The thread is one thing but offline???? Are you guilty of this!? OH PUH-LEASSSE!!!

Did you say anything to them? Like, "oh dont get your skivvies in a twist...we're just here to have fun" or "I hope they don't let you anywhere near a gun!"

    skivvies?
No. We were drunk and behaved like some! It was a buzzkill for my mates but the 'outsiders' left at 7pm.

Don't generalize! Not all Americans are competitive!! We're all about having fun too!

Chalk up their competitiveness to their personalities or that they're in the Navy.

We Americans are not overly competitive. AND IF YOU DON'T BELIEVE ME, LET'S ARM WRESTLE TO PROVE THE POINT!!

Oop, that's just my American testosterone kicking in. icon_lol.gif

Yeah, I'd blame it on the fact they they are in the Navy. Military people always seem to be a little aggressive.... icon_smile.gif

Truth is, most Americans are pretty laid back...

Is there such a thing? If you're referring to either English football or rugby, those are the events I steer clear of since it can be frustrating getting the men's attention away from the game even for a few secsicon_mad.gif

I'm very competitive. But I know how to have fun and not have a problem if I lose or whatever. Not ALL americans are like that. icon_smile.gif

I think the breed of American that bragged about how rich and powerful America is a dying breed.

I find most Americans to be friendly. I think we can thank George Bush for showing most people in the USA who were uneducated about the world outside there boarders that there shit does stink and there not all that.

America's sort of becoming a little softer like Canada and we need more Canada's in this world.

Well I grew up in a culture where I saw myself getting married to a 'KANO... I still hold that close to my heart but I haven't explored Eastern European delicacies thoroughly yet.

I noticed too that the Americans are quite _______ (insert word here after reading this; *DUH* is acceptable!).
It's mostly Americans who I have issues with (read: get to my nerves) i.e. when they come to Dubai (for a visit, business trip, etc.) and yet ask for the nearest Burger King, McDonald's and KFC fastfood stores. I mean, for fuckssakes, you are here ... EXPLORE A BIT AND LEARN SOMETHING DIFFERENT, WILL YAH!!!

The Brits and their swearing: kind of like fruits and their seeds. No need to fear. Promise.
Bloody hell, that's music to my ears.

Americans are, in general, raised to be competitive. So much of many American kids' free time is spent playing sports, it kind of becomes ingrained I think.

That may have been the case in the past, but, the only thing American kids are competitive about these days is eating.
