I'm a yoga teacher and it happens all of the time. I can assure you, there's nothing wrong with it (though it isn't the most appealing part of my job). Its often involuntary and not necessary to bring attention to.

There was a brilliant Monty Python sketch in which the phrase, "More tea, Vicar?" was used to distract attention from those passing wind. Try that in class.

Breaking wind is not always voluntary. It can become embarrassing if one has a digestive system or eats food that results in considerable excessive wind.

Same thing happens at the gym when people use the ab machines that you lay down on. They crunch their abs so hard, they squeeze out a fart. Usually, it's a little toot or a squeak. But the silent ones are the fuckin worst. icon_confused.gif

Peek-a-boo farts are a sign of an advanced yogi.

Yogis have good control of their breathing and can inhale and exhale air through any orifice in their body.

Next time you fart in yoga tell people that it's cos your advanced.

I understand it's a natural thing, but come on! At least excuse yourself out of the class to break wind.

Nothing worse than someone breaking wind in a class where it's already hot and fresh air is in limited supply.icon_lol.gif What's worse is when people do them silently and thinks no one will notice.

Avoid eating rice, beans and peas from about 4 hours before your yoga session. Same if you're lactose intolerant (even if eaten with a lactase supplement).
