I respect him a lot for publicly standing up for gays as a high profile rapper. A lot of kids and younger people in general listen and respect their opinions/views as if they are modern day social/spiritual gurus. The stuff about a covert 'gay mafia' was a bit far-fetched though...
Of course what he is saying is true about how gays should be open and should be totally un-phased and nonchalant when declaring it. In theory.
However, it is hard for him, or those like him, to truly know how hard that can be for some, as he has never grown up in a society/family that demonizes and is repulsed by the sexuality he has always possessed. It is a deeply ingrained psychological block/defence mechanism that a lot of guys have had to construct from early childhood onwards. Not easy to take back down, but clearly worth it in the long run.
Still, the more people like him from traditionally hyper-masculine, urban, hetero-normative sub-cultures who stand up and show support, the easier it will be for the social stigma to be rendered as ignorance and dissipate throughout societies at large.TL;DR
: Real talk, he a BAU5!!!
