Sales have been extremely slow past few weeks and I'm wondering how broke people are. Like, let's say you wanted something that was $50. In the past you may have thought nothing of it. Now it's a big decision. Does that accurately describe your current situation, or are you spending like you did five years ago?

Nope, I'm recession-proof. icon_smile.gif Military has its perks.

At the moment I'm comfortable, living debt-free and single.

I'm so broke right now that if a trip around the world cost only 10 cents, I couldn't get out the front door.

Pinching pennies so hard, Mr. Lincoln is crying.

My dad's cracked down on spending, but he just bought me a $60 camcorder to use for my youtube fashion blog and he's buying me a flat screen TV tomorrow for what I am assuming is a Christmas gift.

My case is a bit different.

My spouse (one of my two partners), who earned about 50% of our household income passed away last year and I am now paying two mortgages (both locked-in terms) and my remaining partner is paying the mortgage on the third property

Since we were no longer able to get mortgage life insurance on our properties after my spouse was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2003 I have also had to rent out my principal residence to offset costs. I am blessed that it is more than covering itself however it sucks not being able to live in my home.

Although I recieved a small life insurance policy from his workplace I am gun-shy about spending and have tightened the reins far more than five years ago. While I am not struggling by any stretch of the imagination I think that the grieving process has compounded things and created a fear of scarcity.

I don't have car insurance or registration anymore. But that's ok, I don't even have money for gas anyway. I haven't left mom's house on my own in 2 months. No exaggeration. Not once.

I'm looking for temp work. I'm only here until Feb, when I move to Taiwan.

I make less than five thousand a year.

Averaging out, I maybe make 80 dollars a week. That's pretty unfair considering I can work just four hour weeks sometimes and that's not even enough for rent.

40 of it goes to rent, if I have it. Otherwise I have to find bottles/find change.

I'm five times or more below poverty level.

Fact: I'm poorer than most people who claim they're poor, but I'd never let you know it.
