Today is the day 11/11, the Catholic day of St Martinus.. the soldier who cut his cloak in half to clothe a cold beggar.... the story goes that in Masrtin's sleep, he dreamed the beggar came to him and said "I am Jesus and here lies Martinus, who saved a poor beggar from the cold"

Martinus is also Roman for "of the god Mars" .. connecting him to the god of war.. (in old English, this god was "Tiw" and from his name we have "Tuesday".. in Spanish "Martes" for Mars, in India "Mangalvaa")...

having been a soldier himself, and a name honouring the god of war, St Martin's day is a fitting day to honour veterans and to celebrate armistice

    Happy 11 /11 !!!
