Is there any chance to date a jocky(muscular) guy if you're not jocky yourself?

I'm just curious cause so far all these jocky guys (most of you guys lol) are only into muscular, beefy, typical gay body obsession kind of guys. icon_sad.gif
Well I go to the gym about 3-4 times a week without perfect diet and workout routine.. So my body is still lean and not really muscular/beefy. I have like the 'average' type of body that most college students have - lean and not muscular. Well hopefully my body just gets bigger naturally in time..I'm 19 but have a body of a 16 year old icon_confused.gif

Some of them like just a nice body even if it's not as muscular as theirs.. Others go to the gym to build up just because that's what they are into, so keeping up with their body keeps other muscular men attracted them...

Of course you do!! Geez. Different guys like different traits, some dudes here like really muscular guys.. others might like twinks or just guys with an athletic (but not necessarily muscular) physique.

I'd get into the gym to improve your health... but I don't think you should
think that muscle guys are just into muscle..

    and welcome to RJ.

Yes. You have the same opportunity as anyone else would. The key to success in what you are looking for is to be confident with yourself and your abilities. No one ever started off with the perfect bod. NO ONE. They all started at ground zero and worked their way up. You're gonna have to do the same. Some make it look easy and effortless while others struggle but regardless of that they are doing something about their bodies and getting the results they want (hopefully).

I hope you are working out mainly for your own benefit and not for the sake of just getting certain guys to notice you, date you, fuck you, whatever.... That'll be an added bonus with time but you should mostly just be doing it for yourself. If you have a great personality and an already decent bod then you should be fine. Not every muscly/jocky type guy goes for the same type. Some can look beyond a body and see what's inside. Nothing wrong with making a present look pretty though. LOL.

    I wish you luck.

For me personally, I find guys most attractive who are physically active and incorporate fitness into their daily lives. That being said, there are many variations on what constitutes an athletic body. So for me (and probably for others), it's less about whether someone is ripped and muscular and more about whether someone is physically fit and active.

ha ha ha dude you are 19, you have plenty of growing.as far as muscular guys only wanting to be with another muscular guy. that is a joke. i do not care if my potential is muscular or not. as long as they take care of themselves that is all that matters to me

This is how I look at it gay men want a buff man right if that is so than why? Well here is my best reasons on why.

    1. The person seaking a muscle man to love most likely has average muscles, and wants a body builder to be with them`

    2. The person seeks security (secretly) by saying they are in love with a body builder.

    3. They are atracted to muscles.

    4. They have no idea why.

Average bodies for most seem unapeakking since it is common body type. So most men don't seek that in this era.

Now there is a chance to have 2 average body types to fall in love. But, useually that is hard to do since hardly anyone loves a average body type.

It's all based on chemistry (mind), physics (body) and emotion (love) that determines who you like and other guys reading this.

Of course. I know tons of guys into the swimmer/average build. My build is similar to that of either a college lineman or linebacker and there are other guys are into that too. Basically- all guys are into different men. Check out Noodles and Beef's gay men clique census for more details.

it depends on the guy, for instance.

a Muscular guy who used to be fat, will go to the extreme of not even wanting to be around a fat guy. a muscular guy who used to be skinny might not be into skinny guys. for the most part naturally muscular guys tend not to really care either way. and for some muscle just happens based on their personal fitness goals... SO STOP JUDGING!!!

    Just say hi.

We must protect the future of gaydom and keep the bloodlines pure. Think of the children.

I can relate to what you're saying because I'm not a muscular guy obviously but I am great at and love playing some sports. Not all muscular, beefy guys are only into the same...a lot of them usually like leaner, smaller framed guys. It kinda goes back to that saying "opposites attract."

Confidence always wins out because it displays itself in ways that are not easily quantifiable.

If you are going to the gym for someone else, then I'd suggest that you look at your goal.

I too, was very skinny until I hit 21. I immediately got broader shoulders and started to fill out. My problem has been building out to that frame. I don't do it for others, or to attract others. I work out with a trainer and work with a nutritionist because being fit and filling out my body is important to me.

Self-doubt always loses. If you feel stuck, it's because you are learning bud. Keep it up!

Do you have a chance? Absolutely! The key is not to go after shallow a**holes when picking a date.

It may take time, but you will see eventually that not every beefy jock is only into other beefy jocks. Hey, some of us are even interested in getting to know another cute guy who isn't huge... and get t know him AS A PERSON.

I know, I know, sounds far-fetched right? But it is true.

I think the best approach is to search for guys that have similar interests as you do. If you enjoy working out then the chances are that you will meet other fitness-oriented guys in the places that you work out. Beefy and otherwise.

We are all drawn to looks at first, but if there isn't some mutual interests beyond the body there is a chance that the connection or the relationship might not last.

Enjoy the journey, talk to the guys you are interested in, pursue the guys you have a something in common with, and let life take you from there.

Lastly, you're 19!! Relax! You have your whole life ahead of you. ^_^

    Best of luck bud!

    -Johnny

Can I just generalize your question here for a minute? We get it a lot.

"I'm really attracted to guys of type X, but I am type Y. Do guys of type X really go for guys of type Y, or do X guys only like other X guys?"

    And the general answer:

"Some guys of type X like guys of type Y. Some only like other Xs, and some are most interested in you if you're Z, and some are just jerks. It varies from person to person, so focus instead on being the best Y you can be."

With this post, I believe the

"Does a [non-musc | non-built | non-jock | chubby | average | normal | etc.] guy have a chance with a [musc | built | jock | etc.] guy?" post vaults up to # 5 in the "ad nauseum" list of RJ topics.

I believe it also firmly cements the strong correlation (r=0.9) between said post types and their author being a pictureless profile with single digit post count who will disappear after said post.

FYI, here's the current "ad nauseum" list, in ranked order, with "classic" examples of each genre helpfully hyperlinked for those doing their RJ thesis work:

    1. "Guy above you" threads. This valuable topic constitutes 80% of RJ now. Invented by colmdublin (don't know his current handle), back in early 2008.

    2. Religious / political / racial flame-throwing wastelands.

    3. "Masc vs fem" threads. Best feature of these threads is an informative lecture by resident scholar/therapist/queer theorist/queer historian/penis expert, obscenewish.

    4. "Old dating younger -- OK or icky?" threads.

    5. "Does a [non-musc | non-built | non-jock | chubby | average | normal | etc.] guy have a chance with a [musc | built | jock | etc.] guy?" threads.

    6. "I just turned [18 thru 25], and I [ don't have a boyfriend | feel lost | haven't achieved my dreams | hate my job | feel old | etc.], is there any hope for me or should I just end it all" threads. (Sorry, got lazy and couldn't locate a good candidate for this thread type, since most of them die out quickly.)

    7. Hot guy pic threads (usually around some theme, like a movie, TV show, holiday, sport, country, ethnicity, physical feature, etc.)

    8. Creepy fetish threads masquerading as sincere questions, usually authored by pictureless profiles.

    9. "[Gay Pride | rainbow flag | gay 'culture' | other gay thing]: helpful or damaging?" threads, usually authored by desperately "masc" guys who's "gayness doesn't define them." This thread type is seasonal, usually peaking in June, altho they occur year round.

    10. Actually informative/helpful discussions on fitness topic threads.

PS Yes, I spend WAY to much time on RJ.

MONEY !!! Have lots of it ! It is the great equlizer ! You can be raging fat ass and still have the man you want ! The bad part is you have to find a guy that is for sale . Try drug adicted GoGo boys. Good luck !
