Thank you for your service to our country. The United States wouldn't be the 'free land' it is without strong men like you who fight for our country. Thank you all so much. Let this day be about you and the hardships you went through for your service to our country.

I hope you all have an awesome day icon_smile.gif

You are entitled to your opinion, but please educate yourself before blatantly blurting out bullshit to entice others. Show some respect.

I can only respect and admire the good men and women in the military and hope to join them soon.

I've never served but I've met and worked with them on films such as Battle Los Angeles (military consultants for protocols, etc.) and i have the utmost respect for them. Even if i don't agree with the politics that put them where they are I would never disgrace our men and women in uniform by blurting out such an offensive comment as Anduru, regardless of whether i was being serious or being facetious, and I'm a VERY sarcastic guy who rarely marks anything as off-limits.

Anduru, I don't mean to be rude but you are insulting people who believe in serving their countries. Granted, yes, politics are corrupt and only favor a small group of individuals but dont blame politicians for the service of our soldiers. I do understand your opinion and you can just simply say, "I support the soldiers, not the war."

I have enjoyed your posts on my time here but what you said really was out of line. I don't want to start an argument or anything but I did not intend this thread to be made for bashing men and women who are serving our country.

Today is Veterans Day...a day to honor their service.

I think this is certainly one place where America disagrees with the world.

I just think it's sad that some Americans are basically forced into signing up to serve because they're too poor to support themselves financially otherwise, and they end up getting trapped in the corrupt system that's been set up to not allow people to quit.

I don't support soldiers who blindly think that they're fighting for some sort of "freedom", because killing people in the fucking middle east has nothing to do with the so-called "freedom" of America.

Most of this shit started because your greedyass country wanted oil.

*sigh* just let it be. I do see your point but the way your wording it is tasteless. Hopefully one day the world will change but we have to work with what we got. Politics are bad EVERYWHERE. Each country has their quirk.

We have universal healthcare and legal gay marriage. There's not a whole lot to complain about here except to say that there are too many people who don't vote, and that's why all these right-wing assholes keep getting voted in.

Unfortunately one cannot account for small mindedness on all sides of geo-economic/social equations. People go into the military for more reasons than any of us can count... and some more coerced by economic factors than others - but that is not unique to the USA.

I do not approve of nationalism, wars of any kind, or the horrors that genocide brings - but human history dictates that nations must be able to defend themselves (and others at times) somehow. The military and it's reasons behind it's necessities may always exist. There are some great people in the military and there are not-so noble ones. Just as in politicians, educators, and our police force.

I try my best, these days, not to scape-goat, generalize, or blame.

So - I support those who wish to serve under noble and well-intentioned means. There are good people in all services - and for those, you have my thanks.

I would like to hope that one day the human race learns to do away with such ministrations... but that's a lofty hope. There will most probably be little Hitlers born that small minded and fearful people will "blindly" follow who will unfortunately come into power. We cannot account for eradicating sociopaths from the gene-pool. It's taken me my whole life to understand that. Sad, but true.
