I admit that when I first saw the previews for the upcoming Muppet movie I was not impressed. However, my lady friend managed to get two free tickets to the pre-screening and asked if I would like to go with her.

Now, I grew up on the Muppets and will always have a soft spot in my heart for them. The Great Muppet Caper ranks in my top 10 favorite movies. True fans know that sadly, when Jim Henson died, so did much of the magic. It kind of went downhill from there. Yet I figured that I owed it to my childhood to at least give it a shot. Hell, I still remember all the words to "The Rainbow Connection." Plus, if I didn't like the movie I'd be happy that I didn't pay for it.

Um, I loved it. Gonna try not to be the guy that spoils everything, so just going to say that it was actually really good. Nice mix of new characters and color (loved the robot) while sticking true to the overall ethos which is the Muppets. A huge leap forward from the hot mess that was Muppets from Space. I've gotta say that "Me Party" is my unofficial new anthem for when I'm kicking butt and taking names sans boyfriend.

It might have helped that I was walking into the theatre with low expectations, but all in all, if Kermit and the crew played a part in your formative years, I think it's worth a watch. Amy Adams' fake smile is jarring. Just going to warn you.

While I think there could have been more, the celebrity cameos were bananas.

Anyone looking forward to the flick? Who's your favorite muppet? Mine:

I always loved the 1-liners of the 2 old hecklers, Statler and Waldorf. Here trading insults with the late Milton Berle:

LOVED Statler and Waldorf. The two old guys that would heckle Fozzy the Bear.

This hasn't been released here yet, fuck knows why, and I'm ill w9th excitement.

From what I can gather, there's a ton of references to and/or it's actually based on "The Muppet Show" (even the theme tune's in there?). I was almost dysfunctionally obsessed with thatsho as a kid (and still am).

I do believe Disney totally ruined The Muppets, but from what I can gather, they're back on top form in this.

Even Miss Piggy has her classic hair-do back, which is a dream come true for me.

No need to say who my favourite Muppet is/was. Impersonating Miss Piggy as a kid is where it all started for me .... ;-)
