Wow. If your PC clock is behind by a few years, RJ stops working...

My watch battery on the motherboard is past its prime so my machine wakes up in a bit of a time warp. A few years ago, depending on how religiously I have the PC synch to internet time.

Couldn't understand why half the click-operations wouldn't work on RJ. No pictures. Can't delete a post. This really sucks.

Turns out we depend on a security certificate on google.com. The date stamp is checked. It throws a dialogue box if the PC clock says the day is before the certificate is supposed to be active.

FWIW. Figured it might save someone else some head-scratching...

Agh, no. This is not true.

Just like it had no effect during Y2K, it has no effect on RJ....

    RJ was fucked up earlier.

Replacing a CMOS battery is super easy... and you can buy new ones most places batteries are sold. You really ought to take care of that before it starts causing even more problems with your computer.

For fun, set your PC clock to 2007, then look at a profile. You can click the first picture...but none of the smaller ones. It also affects "threads you've posted to". It doesn't see the "go" button with a search.

Weird. I'll save the dialog box text for google.com next time I see it.
