SUCKS. I've finally passed my plateau of 170lbs and have been steadily gaining since the semester started... and now I've had to miss 3 days this week because of a stupid cold. Lame!

I hate missing, because of illness or a conflict in my schedule. Be diligent and try to make as much as you can, but usually a break isn't a bad thing.
    Always keep that in mind.

We all hate it but, as other guys have said, take it as a rest week. It's a good thing. Many trainers recommend that every two to three months you take a full week off and do nothing. When I'm sick, I rest and indulge my other great pleasure: reading. It's a good time to turn inward, take stock, and when you return to the gym, you'll have a renewed enthusiasm.

Just rest. Your body isn't ready for the gym.

3 days is nothing. Severe pneumonia and missing about 5 weeks, that puts a cramp in your gyming.

Kudos on your progress and I feel your pain, buddy.

I believe the staff/students from UCSD medical center using my gym were the source of most of my colds and sinus infections when I lived in San Diego.

Your body needs to deal with this. The gym is a germ buffet. Your immune system may be more vulnerable to other infections. And, you will benefit from time off to stave off a plateau on strength gains. If for no other reason, do it for the benefit of other gym patrons. And, pneumonia sucks.

It's no big deal to miss a week. You won't suddenly lose progress.

Aargh I hate being ill and missing the gym/running. Nothing you can do but rest up and if you are a regular trainer, it will probably do you some good! Rest easy, chief!

I sprained my wrist a week ago and am feeling the disappointment in missing it as well. And on a shitty sidenote, I woke up today with an onsetting cold.. icon_confused.gif

If you workout while sick you risk pushing the virus/ bacteria into your muscles and heart and you have to stay out of the gym longer because you have a new longer lasting cold or flu. Always rest while sick, your body could have gotten sick also due to overtraining... stay home and rest up... sucks but you need to rest it.

The last two times I've been sick, I was probably infected by someone at my gym. Stay home. Rest. It won't make any real difference. Don't infect other people please.

Its been proven that Cardio boosts your immune system. I think I dealt with the last onset with a gallon of orange juice and cutting my cardio in half for a weekend. Seemed to work.

Which is why I'm getting sick now that my ankle is sprained. Also, I have the worst acne I've ever had in my life.

I think I've been cursed. I sprained my ankle going downstairs at the Cuff tonight.

Right ankle is slightly swollen and sore.

    fuck. there goes my cardio.

You risk not only making yourself sicker by working out when you're contagious, but others as well. Don't share the wealth - rest up, stay home, and come back more motivated than ever,

I hate getting sick and not being able to go to the gym. Last time I felt sick I went to the gym, got through my lifting ok, but then got all of 7 minutes into my cardio and knew I couldn't continue. Took 4 days off after that because I didn't want to be there if I couldn't give 100%. I survived. It sucks but like some people on here have said at least I've never had anything put me out for weeks at a time (yet).

I totally feel you...I just feel like I am getting fat if I skip gym...what I would recommend is to eat SUPER healthy...cause that is one thing you can do and it will provide motivation for you

I feel you too! It's been over a week for me! First I had strep, putting me out for 4 days. NOW, immediately after that, I've had a cold.

God only knows when I'll stop hacking, sneezing, sniffling and coughing enough to be able to work out again. Sucks!

I've got a cold too, annoying, Iv just been ramming down the Jack3D and that seems to get me through a basic workout, but i cant breath properly and get tired fast coz of this friggin cold so im wondering whether it wouldve been better to take some rest days, just that Ive got nothing to do with my day, so I just go gym despite the fact Im not well.
