Bought yesterday, the first day on sale. Defective. So back to the store today.

Looked like it could be very nice. I already have a Droid X on another line and was going to get a iPhone 4s, but 3G in this day and age? So to replace my BB Storm 2, which btw, has been a really good device, I picked up the new Razr. Spent 2 1/2 hours in the store, we had to do several master resets, then I missed my workout (can't think of a better way to upset a homo) I get home and ain't no way this one is going to work.

I was thinking about upgrading to this handset...have a droid incredible now and still really like the phone but I only have until the end of this year to use my "new every two" for the very last time since they (Verizon) are doing away with this. Therefore, I want to upgrade to something other than the iPhone.

I'm sure it's an one-off thing, but I set aside an evening to get this setup with all my stuff on it only to get home to find out that I can't do a thing on it, let alone even be able to turn it on. I'm a tech savvy geezer and I hate having stuff around that doesn't work.

Worse yet, I missed my workout - nuttin worse than an old bitch who doesn't make it to the gym. My tits were saggin so bad this morning that I stepped on one when I got out of bed!

My first Droid phone was a Motorola from early 2010 and it was awful.

It was so sensitive that it would redial phone numbers just sitting on the passenger seat of my car. I'd be driving along and hear a little voice...hello, hello, hello. icon_razz.gif Then I'd be talking and the 'mute' would randomly activate. Brought it back, went with an HTC...been delighted ever since.

I had hopes for this one. The BEST plain cell phone I ever had was a Razr from 2006. Mom is 88 and still uses hers.

3G in this day and age plus the smaller screen and non removable SD card eliminates it from contention.

The Droid X also butt dials way too easily. If I put it back in the case too quickly before the screen times out, it will dial just from the toss to the passenger seat.

I'll wait for the iPhone 5 next spring or so and use it as the upgrade for my Droid X. This device is replacing my super trusty BB Storm 2. The only appeal I could see to the 4S is video, and I do use video much more than I use to, but not enough to justify how backwards it is in another important way - 4G. The Droid X is great on vid but doesn’t have image stabilization so it took extra time doing that separately. Due to the cost of it, I don’t carry the T2 Rebel unless I know I’m going to need to use it. Often time something happens and I need vid right now so hopefully the Droid Razr will do that well enough.

We were called out late yesterday to look at a 280,000 sq ft mixed use project to list the retail and office, and I didn’t have time to head home for the big camera because the owner had a flight back to LA. So it was do right then or wait a few weeks until he’s back. I had a very busy day so the vid helps me remember what I had looked at so I can put a marketing plan together for the owner. The vid had good color saturation but was pretty shaky because I was walking.

I think he means Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, the latest version of android. The Apple cameras tend to lead the pack. But, for your purpose, I can't argue with 4G or the removable memory card.

I was gonna get the Razr yesterday on Amazon cuz they had a promotion yesterday for 111.11 but it was for new customers only. I'm just gonna wait next month when Motorola comes out with the Dinara which is gonna be the best camera phone in the market and the first phone with ICS. I'm a fan of Motorola and they never failed on me like everyone else that has posted. I still have the first Motorola Droid that came out 2 years ago.

I'm holding off upgrading my iPhone 4 to a 4S for a couple of reasons. One, there's a screen discoloration issue. Second, Siri, though a great concept, seems a bit erratic & unreliable at present. I was gonna give my partner my 4, and put his 3GS into the inactive reserve, but I'll wait a bit longer until the early-run 4S models have cleared the inventory.

Yeah I figured that out once I get in the car. Hopefully ICS is better than gingerbread was for the first few days. I'm at the store and they are doing and they're doing an exchange.

yourname2000 saidNever, ever, ever buy anything that says "Motorola" on it...it's a euphemism for "this is a shit product that will generate 3 times the heat of a normal device, act erratically for no reason, and breakdown routinely." (Yeah, the really packed a lot into the name.)

I've great luck over the years with Motorola devices. I started with Motorola car phones at least 35 years and except for my many BlackBerrys I think all of my devices have been Motorola.

You might lob Samsung into that ring too.

Their laundry appliances don't like water pressure and they go to extreme lengths to cut cost out of their phones. Qualcomm might not be perfect. But, my last experience with Samsung tells me they will climb the tallest mountain to find the cheapest power chip and guaranteed a 9-12 month lifespan.

Motorola was cool back in the days. Their phones were rock solid and had excellent RF performance. The original RAZR was probably their last greatest phone, in terms of innovation and reliability.

These days, they're ok. Their Droid series smartphones are pretty good. But I think Samsung is the best right now for Android based phones. I have the Galaxy S right now and it's fantastic. I was thinking about getting the Galaxy S2, but I'm holding off to see if Samsung will offer an ICS upgrade or just release a Galaxy S3 with ICS.

I can't tell you anything about the latests Sammy Galaxy models as they use the confidentiality rule with the FCC to hide photos of the circuit boards for 3 months.

Here's a review of the Motorola RAZR. http://www.phonescoop.com/articles/article.php?a=9265
This quote underscores my concern for LTE in general and why I'm not complaining about Apple.
    Battery

I tested the RAZR under LTE 4G coverage for only about 90 minutes. In that short time period, the battery dropped an eyebrow-raising 25% under heavy use. When under 3G coverage only, the RAZR's battery lasted at least a full day with both the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios on. As with all of the 4G LTE phones sold by Verizon, the trade-off for 4G speed is battery life. At least the RAZR offers a switch to turn the LTE radio off, allowing users to manage their power more effectively. Bottom line: the battery isn't going to last very long when using the LTE radio. Switching to 3G-only can help conserve power, but I'd make sure to have charging options or alternate power supplies handy if you use 4G all the time.

why don't you get one of those new super fancy, high quality, '4G' Android phones that runs hot, sucks battery life and realizes only 3G net speeds in most markets because of the fact that 4G networks aren't mature and aren't available everywhere?... oh yeah... that's what you bought. never mind.
