OK...I am good at finding one-night stands and otherwise Erica Jongian..."Zipless Fucks", but, I am tired of not having a fulltime partner to love and share life with, so I am going to try a couple of different dating websites. I have not done this before and find it sort of daunting to put together a short and interesting profile to attract the man of my dreams. I tend to be too verbose, so I am wondering if I should let my 2 friends, both straight, one male and one female, write my profiles for me. They volunteered!....Obviously I will be the one that has "ultimate edit" power....has anyone ever done this and had any positive results?
Any suggestions other than the obvious, “be careful" much information is enough and what I should not reveal until much later?

I wrote a personals ad for a female friend a couple of years ago. She signed off on it, admitting that I had described her perfectly. She got a lot of responses, but I don't think she followed up on any of them.

When it comes to these profiles: Look at a bunch of profiles yourself and see what attracts you. How much are you willing to read? I would avoid writing too much. But definitely write more than a couple of sentences. And go beyond listing activities you like to do, because that does not distinguish people very much. Almost everyone likes movies, going out occasionally, and cuddling on the couch watching TV.

I think it's also good to keep the tone of the profile upbeat and light. I have seen many profiles that begin "I am tired of partying, and I'm tired of the 'scene,' and now I just want to meet someone nice and settle down for eternity." You get the idea. This kind of profile strikes me as bitter, and also excessively hopeful of finding something permanent very fast.

One more thing: Spelling and grammar count so much, at least for me.
