Take some time off. Take a week long vacation. Regroup your thoughts. Reconnect with family/friends you haven't seen in a while. And when you get back, your mind will be refreshed and ready to look for a new job. icon_cool.gif

Take it from a pro.. got laid off multiple times in the past. Always wound up getting a job, someway and somehow. icon_lol.gif

Don't worry too much. And don't lose your motivation. If that happens, your job hunt will be difficult.

I'm not familiar with your area. I've always wanted to go to Boston, but haven't made it yet. Perhaps you could sign up for unemployment benefits and take a week of two off to recharge yourself and then find some sort of employment. icon_wink.gif

Are you worried about being able to maintain a residence, vehicle, or other necessities of life? Do you have enough savings built up?

Besides that, was this a career job or just a job? Did you like it-will it make a big difference in your psychiatric health besides providing financial security? Is there a severance package from your company?

You can collect unemployment. Besides that you could look to see where you can trim your budget and determine how long you can keep going on unemployment and any savings you have without having a job? Try to build a safety net. You may have to move in with your family or friends for a while.

Do you have any debts you are currently paying off- College/Vehicle/Credit cards?

Just remember this will not end you. You will be OK. You will still be able to find a job. Try to track down as many as possible job leads as you can.

A couple of months ago, my partner lost his job too, so I understand how you must feel.

Go get that unemployment compensation! It's insurance. You paid for it out of your payroll taxes.

Use the time to look for the next right job.

Add to your skill set with high value pro-bono service to or through your not-for-profit professional association.

    Go to the gym more.

And, maybe treat yourself to sleeping late one day a week.

    Be well!

Stay focused on the career you want and use your networks - don't underestimate the power of networking.

    Good luck.

That happened to me 2 weeks ago- So I made a point to tell everyone I knew about my unemployment- and posted "looking for a new job" on my online profiles like facebook and grinder.

And ended up getting a job offer 2 days later- and today I actually had 2 more companies calling to set up interviews, all because of different connections.

So sometimes shitty situations can turn into your best opportunities!

    Good luck man! ;)

this...it happened to me a couple of times, take time to re-charge, and also cleanse from the negatives of the last job, etc. Also, take care of yourself, like other have said, eat healthy, continue to workout.

    Best Wishes.

Great advice. I have been laid off twice. After the second time i took some time off for a great vacation that I would not have otherwise taken. Had a great time and when I got home, I started networking with my friends and family and got a new job right away.

Don't forget A4A, grindr, and Craigslist. Plenty of ways to make money nowadays without actually having a real job. Lol

To the OP: Congrats man. That's pretty amazing.

In a very similar situation... got fired three weeks ago.
Having to wait for unemployment is a royal pain, but luckily I have been putting out my resume and have some phone interviews lined up. In the meantime, I am enjoying doing some of the fun things in LA that I didn't get to do when I was working. Also enjoying more time with the dogs. The one thing I am not doing is tuning into that awful daytime TV like "Maury-Who's-My-Baby-Daddy" and Springer.
