veins getting in the way

So to start off I'm very vascular my veins stick out a good bit when I'm really pumped at the gym and lifting. Sometimes when I'm doing a workout my muscles will swell up and push my vein(s) and it is uncomfortable and sometimes hurts. The best way I can describe it is like a rubber band being pushed rapidly to a direction. Does anyone else experience this? It happened again today and I had to stop my tri workout and try something else.

It shouldn't be the veins (vasculature) that is causing pain. Your pain receptors are in the tissue surrounding them, and its far more likely that its the muscle pump causing the pain, but most people don't describe it as pain but more as pressure or stiffness.

Do you take any supplements that might be contributing to the pump? What's your bodyfat%?

Have you checked to see if you have varicose veins? It's a bit unusual for it to happen in the arms but that was my first reaction.

Are you sure they're not varicose veins? They tend to hurt more while muscles are exerting force against them as a result of the contractions and swelling afterwards. Your veins would only hurt if they swell up as a result of faulty valves in them...maybe it's an early sign of valve failure. Go see a phlebologist.
