I find it odd that when I post something like "all gay-haters should be killed" on this site, I get lots of backlash. Yet anywhere else on the internet - and at work - I get 100% support...from the straight community.

In other words, the gays in Russia should rise up and start killing the ones who support the fine. Anyone who disagrees can just kiss my lilly white ass. icon_biggrin.gif

We need more ppl like Paul.

The Black civil movement was not won entirely on peaceful demonstrations.

If gays don't stand up for themselves and take the haters head on, sometimes by force if necessary. We'll never get the rights we are after.

I'd predict, if there were a civil society break down, eg Germany pre WW2. The gays will be rounded up and executed in concentrations camps.

I just don't want to see this day when I'm alive.

Political correctness has forced people to say such things to you, and maybe a fear factor too. It's a bit like speaking out against Obama, to repress you, people will scream racist. Just as if straits disagreed with you, they may fear they will be call poofter haters; or fear with you being so volatile, you may pull a gun on them.

St. Pete is in Florida. St. Petersburg is in Russia?

The article would not come up on my computer, so I don't know if the distinction was made.

I dunno, though. Who really knows what to call these places. In Florida, they one spelled out the city name on the sign for the main library and then had to change it from Saint Petersburg to St. Petersburg, more than likely due to popular opinion.

It's Russia in this instance. I'd have over 10k in fines just from this past weekend otherwise.

Well they just saved me a lot of vacation money they could have used.

I read today that educated people are leaving Russia by the thousands. Things will get worse before they get better.

Russia - and most of the rest Orthodox/Slavic Europe - is as hidebound in its homophobia as the most fire-breathing Baptist congregations in the US Midwest or Deep South.

Russia in particular feels "jeopardized" by homosexuality due to its sub-replacement rate of reproduction.

However, the Russians do know one thing very well: if their gays were to rise in armed revolution the Spetznatz and whatever the KGB calls itself these days would crush them without so much as blinking.

And Putin being the grade-A fucker that he is might even resort to using the gulag system to rid himself (and the Rodina - the Motherland) of its "gay problem".

Meanwhile in the USA, such dire actions are very much out of realistic thinking - where rule of law is still honoured and entrenched.
